Kasey Cooper of Dothan a finalist to become a Rhodes Scholar

Former Auburn softball All-American Kasey Cooper of Dothan is a finalist to become a Rhodes Scholar. She tweeted the news Friday.

A Rhodes Scholarship is an international award for students to study at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.

 

Cooper was a four-time softball All-American and a three-time academic All-American in addition to numerous other academic and athletic honors.

Each year 32 students from the United States are selected as Rhodes Scholars. They are chosen for their scholarly achievements, character, and potential for leadership.

3.98 GPA in Mechanical Engineering.  When talent meets drive and is powered by passion the results are pretty spectacular.  Kasey Cooper embodies EVERYTHING that's great about college athletics.  Her bio has a list of of accomplishments/awards a mile long.  Well done.

Hats off to anyone  who can dedicate that kind of time to playing softball and make that level of achievement in their course work.  Also noticed that Bree Fronis is in School of Engineering and was Academic All SEC for  2016 and 2017.  Some talented smart gals out there.

Wow what an honor and well deserved. That type of GPA in such a tough field while playing a major college sport. I am in awe of people like her.
