Carlton is getting a first round grade

Not from McShay or Kiper. If he can slow down Calvin Ridley that would boost his stock big time.

Not exactly sure the NFL scouts give a whoot about McShay and Kiper

Probably still too early to tell if he could be round 1 or not. It might actually do him some good to stay one more year if round 1 isn't a certainty.

Because historically he leaves after a year.

All of his moves except From Bama secondary coach to Louisville Safety coach were job upgrades. I don't see him leaving for a job upgrade from AU after this year.

No but they are usually more on top of it than these other sites who give round grades.

Be interested to know what scouts you rub elbows with.

“Most people at my level feel he is a joke,” a veteran NFL scout told us via e-mail.  “People in the league respect Kiper.  He is not a true scout but he does work at it.  A lot of his info he gets from connections in the league, and over the years he has made quite a few.  When he was younger he used to burn some bridges.  He doesn’t do that any more.”

So what about McShay?

“McShay does not have any good connections,” the source opined.  “Higher-ups in the league think he is an arrogant a**hole.  A know-it-all.  And he really knows nothing.  Whatever he says about a quarterback, take it to the bank, it will be the opposite.  Remember, last August he stated that Jevan Snead was better than Colt McCoy and would get drafted in the top five.  He has yet to publicly retract that statement.

Honestly, I am not even sure why McShay is even on ESPN's payroll. You would think with the money they spend they would spend it on an actual scout.

Does the PFT guy do a draft board or have a recommendation on who to follow?

Good breakdown on Tutt by Ben at SEC Country

4-star cornerback preps for Auburn-Ohio State decision

In an unlikely spin, Auburn is on commit watch Tuesday.

Christian Tutt will make his decision between Auburn and Ohio State after taking an official visit to the Plains over the weekend. Tutt hasn’t been a primary recruiting figure for the Tigers — at least publicly — until recently. He always seemed to prioritize the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia and Nebraska.

But with some of those schools looking elsewhere at cornerback, it allowed Auburn to creep in late in the game.

Here are all the things we know as Tutt prepares to make his decision at 3 p.m. ET for his U.S. Army All-American Game jersey ceremony in Thomson, Ga.

  • Tutt is a take for Auburn.
  • He’s also a take for Ohio State and Nebraska, though Tutt already eliminated the Cornhuskers.
  • Auburn has a need at cornerback, which became very clear to Tutt over the course of the official visit.
  • Even when Auburn appeared to be out of it, defensive backs coach Greg Brown was in regular communication with Tutt and visited his high school in the spring. That consistency made an impression on Tutt.
  • Tutt wanted to make his commitment decision for his U.S. Army All-American Game jersey ceremony all along, but coming into his official visit last weekend, he thought it was possible he would have to delay his decision. He isn’t delaying it, if that gives you an indication where he’s leaning.

I fully expect the 4-star prospect, the No. 25 cornerback in the 2018 class, to choose the Tigers over the Buckeyes on Tuesday. If my hunches are correct, that’ll boost Auburn up five spots to the No. 14 class in the team rankings, which will put the Tigers in a realistic shot to crack the top 10 once again.

SEC Country will be in attendance, so follow the Auburn page on Facebook because I’ll post a live video feed during the ceremony. There will be plenty of post-commitment content on the site, as well.

Not rubbing elbows with any scouts, but I've read a lot of mock drafts that have Carlton going in the first round. I'm not sure if you're in a bad mood or something but I'm just having a friendly conversation with you.

Not in a bad mood at at. If you're going to say a guy has a 1st round grade bring links with you. You've been around here a very long time & know the deal.

That's AWESOME. Coach Brown gets 100% of the credit for this one.

They & Bama both did. Liked other guys better & he's had a bit of a rough recent past.
