In breaking the SEC career field goal record during Auburn's win against Georgia, Daniel Carlson earned recognition from the Lou Groza Award for the third time this season.

Carlson was 4-for-4 on field goals during Auburn's 40-17 unseating of previously unbeaten Georgia over the weekend, giving him an SEC-record 88 career field goals and earning him a spot as one of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission's Lou Groza Award "Stars of the Week."

It's the third time this season that Carlson, a two-time Lou Groza Award finalist, has been honored as a "Star of the Week." He previously was honored after his performances against Ole Miss last month and against Missouri in late September. This time, Carlson shared the honor with Washington State's Erik Powell and Stanford's Jet Toner.

Carlson made field goals of 54, 37, 30 and 37 yards against Georgia, including scoring the Tigers' first nine points to take a 9-7 lead on the nation's then-No. 1 team. He surpassed Georgia's Billy Bennett for most career made field goals in SEC history. He was also 4-for-4 on extra points to remain perfect for his career (185-of-185), surpassing Wes Byrum for the career mark at Auburn.

On Monday, Carlson was also named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

I am hoping the consistency runs in the family.

From what little I know of Anders, it does. But we shall see next year once he's performing on the big stage!
