Pruitt would be ideal because it would probably keep Steele here for sure.

...and it would piss off the bama faithful.

What's up with all the Freeze love? I agree with being high on his coaching expertise but this guy just got busted with repeatedly hiring hookers on a company phone. Pretty sure our opponents would eat that up in recruiting

True, but we'd have a helluva lot of recruits come to visit...

Coach #1 - Now, you know this coach Freeze just got busted for hiring escorts and hookers. Are you sure you want to subject yourself to such vile behavior?

Prospect -

And Pruitt has been known to not play well with others. It is not clear why he took a lateral from FSU under Fisher to UGA under Richt. There were also many rumors here in Georgia that Pruitt was almost fired in mid-season before Richt left, and then the fact Kirby, who had been Pruitt's boss at Bama, told Pruitt to hit the road and did not retain him for his staff.

Perhaps Pruitt will be a better HC than DC. Certainly coordinators who don't get along with HCs is not unusual. CGM was not known to get along with two of the three HCs he coached for.

But the idea of Pruitt going to UTK only to blow himself up in a couple of years is not something I would totally oppose.

Yea, I'm with you. He and Grantham have always rubbed me the wrong way. They always seemed to have the bad side of Muschamp's personality, without the good side. I've also always felt like they (especially Grantham) liked to coach their players to take cheap shots.

Pruitt will leave uat if and when Saban tells him he can.  They are perfect together because neither can "play well with others".

Yep...I'm caught in conflicting views....would like UTk to be a better competitor for the bammers but unless I read our schedule wrong for 2018,  we are playing them next season.......thus I'm fine if they continue to be a train wreck a couple more years until we are done with them.

I don't think it matters who they hire, they aren't going to right that ship in a single season.

I am not saying they are going to be 180 from where they are, but there is a lot of talent on the UT roster.  Injuries have been a HUGE factor in their issues over the last 2 years.  If they get decent coach in there and figure out a way to get past the injury bug, they will likely be a bowl team next year with 7 wins.  Any of those could be a game they are not supposed to win.  Don't get me wrong, I am not projecting them to compete for SEC East, just be a LOT better than this year.

Could be. I still think the chaos surrounding the program will hold them down for a while. Too many people want a say and the inmates have now taken over the asylum. I would be beyond surprised if hey don't have the most hands on AD (who wasn't also the head coach) in the history of college football.

247 is reporting Pruitt is out. UTK wants someone who would start immediately. Pruitt wanted to pull a Kirby and coach through the playoffs. Pruitt played liar's poker and got called. UTK was offering Pruitt $5M/year for 5 years.

UTK is moving on to another candidate.

Pruitt will make a difference recruiting-wise at Tenn. Not sure what to expect coaching-wise. Gotta be better than Butch.
That Tenn game at JH next year just got a lot more interesting.
