One of the top young prospects in Georgia told the Tigers he wants in Tuesday.

Deondre Jackson has only visited Auburn once. He’s still only a sophomore.

But on Tuesday evening, the 2020 running back at Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson Tweeted he has committed to the Tigers.

“I talked to Coach (Larry) Porter today,” Jackson said. “I think he was kind of surprised.”

The 6-feet, 195-pound Jackson is considered one of the top young players in the metro-Atlanta region. In 2017, he rushed for 813 yards and six touchdowns on 146 carries in 11 games.

“I just like the program,” Jackson said. “A lot of good backs have come out of Auburn, and obviously there is some good coaching going on there. Lot of good vibes up there.”

According to Jackson, he has communicated often with Porter, his area recruiter and Auburn's tight ends coach.

Jackson’s only visit to Auburn was during the spring. He plans to return soon.

“Either this weekend or next weekend,” Jackson said.

Welcome to the family! Guess Deondre might be our Joey Gatewood from the 2020 class.

Follows his blockers well and sets his blocks up well too. His top end speed isn't there yet, but will get better in the next two years.

we get this Dell Mcgee fella and we'll be pulling alot more Deondre Jacksons I believe

or at least should keep them locked up long term

I hope you're right. We did get that D. Craig fella and it ended poorly, so there's that. At this point in time, the situation with Craig a few years ago and McGee now is very similar.

How so? I haven't heard any rumblings of Dell bad mouthing AU to recruits.

Not in that sense, no. Similar in that there's this former AU player out there recruiting lights out for somebody else and all of our fans (me included) thought getting him would be a great idea.

Well Dell appears to be a good on field coach as well & I haven't heard of him having a recruiting rock star personality either so may be worth the plunge if we can get him
