Brandon Jacobs was a 6'4 and 260+ RB. It really sucks that he wants to play RB at LSU. I want to do whatever it takes to sign him, but I want to eventually see him at RB at Auburn. I think he's going to be a monster.

He might be but don't expect him to run like a power back even though he has the size to. He doesn't run that way now. To my knowldge RBs don't change their running styles that much in their careers.

you know how it is in the mountain brook area. If it ain't Bama it is a anywhere but AU mentality. Kid has been to AU a lot way more than any other school but it clearly seems that the couple of times he has been to LSU he has been smitten. Fournette factor helps as well. We need a big name like that to go in the top 10 in the draft at rb we can sell to recruits. College numbers are nice but we need one of these guys to pop big at the nfl level.

Going back to Bo and perhaps even earlier, we've been soooo unlucky with injuries to our guys who actually had a chance to make noise. It's nuts.

Frickin WORD muhhhhhh dude Loof!!! Cadillac, Bo, Kenny Irons list goes on and on. Ronnie Brown had a real solid nice long career but if I take off the orange and blue glasses I can admit he never lived up to the expectations of the 2nd overall pick in the draft. NOT CLOSE tho to a bust either. 1 pro bowl takes care of that.

My thoughts exactly. Even Fannin and Tate.

Frickin Dyer. Frickin Robinson.

I still dont understand Tate being in Houston he was a great compliment back. I guess when word spreads around the league about you it doesnt take long for the phone calls to dry up...

Interesting the article references height as a barrier for being a RB. Eddie George - Heisman and let's not forget Brandon Jacobs.

It is a detriment.  Those guys are exceptions, not the rule.  A guy like Brandon Jacobs would have been a much better player elsewhere; if you look at his measurables you see a potentially elite DE/OLB whereas he spent most of his career as a short-yardage/goal-line specialist RB.

He was going to be RB1 in Houston the year that Foster blew up, but he got hurt in camp.

What is this spreading word about Tate, though? Injury prone?

No it was rumors that him and Foster butted heads often(both had the alpha dog mentality). He got to cleveland and rumors started spreading quick he didnt like that they had drafted another rb etc.... So it kinda stuck with him, plus it didnt really help his case with the vikings and steelers. Houston was his best chance imo to become a viable feature back..What i cant figure out is he never really got another shot after that year, yet trent richardson who did absolutely nothing gets multiple chances...

I guess you could say after his first two years Dyer had a nagging injury, from the neck up.

He had that injury the moment he walked on campus FTR.

I was just trying to give him some credit for the way he performed during his first two years. I live in Colorado where maijuana is legal. Legal or not it's still smoking dope. It's like you're charged with negligent homicide. I'm sorry I shot him in the head, I meant to shoot him in the arm. I just wasn't thinking clearly. It must have been the maijuana I smoked.

Would we take both Joiner & Martin if they both committed to us?  I know this is probably insanity long shot, but just curious

Probability is not insanely long and we would take them both but if we got both only 1 would be taken as a true RB right now.

Got a few more crystal balls the past couple of days too Lsu. He has still only visited there once and visited us the most. Really hope we get him back on campus for big cat. It could just be as simple as he is enamored with LSU and there is nothing we can do. Fournette going top 5 last night does not do us any favors as well.

Looks like our best chance of getting him is him growing a couple more inches, making him not even be a true RB even for LSU but a flex TE type for whoever gets him.

I do have my concerns about him as a RB and I've seen in-state HS coaches have the same concern. There is no question he has a great physique but given his size he hasn't been a dominating presence on the football field like he should be. He hasn't shown the physicality in his runs he's going to need to be successful in the SEC. At his size he can't be a finesse runner in the SEC.

Yeah. At that height, it's hard to get those shoulders down and be a power runner. That's the main reason IMO you don't see more tall RBs IMO. Lose pad level and it almost doesn't matter how big you are.

Don't forget Mason and whatever he's going through.

They all seem to have nice starts.

I am tired of losing recruits to O at this point. Want a win badly vs him on the trail.

I LOAAAAAAATHE that expression and hate it with a passion of so and so says hello but the texas tech transfer and tyler taylor say HIIIIIII! Come on E that is 1. but we have lost more than we have won against O since he took over. And it is not even in state guys in LA we are losing too him on. Bryant was YUUUGE! Big Cat was a shock everyone thought he was going to lsu mere hours before he announced but so very glad we got him.  Big momentum for us that day. I hope we bludgeon them on the field in red stick this season. We owe them many a beatdowns over there as it is. Have not won there since the cigar game under tubs.

You made it sound like we have lost every one so I had to do it.

I don't like losing croots to him either but I don't want to win for a kid that may not help us on the field just to get a recruiting W over Coach O. Not worth winning the battle if the recruit can't win the football war on the field.
