My son was an elite swimmer until he grew tired of all of the never ending practices that ate up most of his free time. When he got to HS, he gave up year round swimming and just swam for his HS team and summer league team. He had good enough times in the backstroke for Olympic qualification but was burned out by then on swimming. He is a tall young man and has the height and build for a swimmer. He has 2 little girls who are gymnast. He said he will never push them hard and wants them to have fun doing what they like.
