Auburn among top-5 hottest tickets

Recommended Posts

Quote

AUBURN, Alabama — Auburn football was the fourth-hotest ticket in college football in 2017.

Games involving Auburn drew a total crowd of 1.16 million people over the course of 14 games — seven at home, five on the road and two at neutral sites (SEC Championship and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl).

Auburn falls just short of No. 1 Ohio State and national championship participants Georgia and Alabama in the rankings. Georgia played one more game than Auburn.

Auburn's home crowds totaling $605,120 over the course of seven games ranked 13th nationally and seventh in the SEC. Seating capacity at Auburn is 87,451, and Auburn's average attendance was 86,446. Jordan-Hare Stadium's capacity is the seventh-best in the SEC. Five SEC teams play in stadiums seating at least 88,000 people.

The SEC led the country in total attendance in 2017 with 7.4 million fans, a drop in 2,433 fans from the 2016 season.

Total attendance across the FBS dropped by 1.4 million people, an average of 1,409 fans each game. Neutral-site games took the biggest hit as the 22 games dipped an average of 4,727 fans per game.

But but but we need to expand to 100k seats!

Crazy talk.

A push right above 90k would be ideal. The 100k mark is excessive. Quality over quantity.

I would go for 85k with more premium seating and an improved on site Gameday experience. Auburn could lead the pack on a new wave of atmosphere improvements.

90,500 would be just about right. With the jumbo-tron, going much past this would create a cramped seating situation. 90,500 is a nice number to shoot for. It would place us behind Lsu, turds, UT, TAMU & the mutts with moving us ahead of UF. The mutts then would only be a couple thousand ahead of us. Doing JHS right with shaping things up cosmetically and adding the extra couple thousand seats would be just what the doctor ordered!

I wouldn’t take away seats when a crowd of 87,451 gets sold out. If we struggled with it, then I would understand. There is an absolute dire need for premium seating though.

I think that 95k would sell out, but that doesn't mean that you sell that many. Supply and demand creates the market. If they want to charge as much as they are, they should make it harder to get tickets.

I'd love to see the net seating numbers to change from current to 30" wide seat backs while filling in the North endzone. Keep student section bleachers. Hoping that an endzone expansion offsets the capacity reduction from the change in seat type.

Not bad considering JHS is the smallest stadium of the top 8 on the list

Very true, also likely a reason that we keep seeing ticket prices soar upwards :nopityA:
