This may be posted somewhere else but just in case, Dontavious Russell was involved in a one vehicle accident - it looks like yesterday. Reported he only dislocated his thumb which amazing if you have seen the photo of his post wreck truck. Apparently his brother had to learn to walk again after a similar accident. Scary stuff. Not known to what extent it will impact this projected starter's Spring.

The damage that vehicle took on the front and the windshield didn't even shatter.  He's a lucky man to come out with only a dislocated thumb.....just pop it back into place, do a little rehab and he's good to go.

Glad to hear about Malik this spring.  I’m ready to watch him guide this team during Aday.  Not to compare him to JJ but this team and Gus’s future hinge on Malik’s ability to come in after Jarrett leaves and keep the momentum going.  It’s time to put up some back to back to back 10,11 win seasons.

Anything on Malcolm askew? I haven’t heard much about him since he arrived on campus.

Sadly, when I've inquired, all I get are some veiled murmurs about not expecting much from him.

Spring ball ain't what it used to be. Four practices over  7 days, and you figure at least 2 of those were shorts and t shirts deals. That's followed by a 12 day break. How can you accomplish anything that way?

Gives the young guys a little bit of time to digest the new information?

...and you just hope they don't forget everything.

You should be looking at at over the course of 12 months rather than individual training sessions. Sure they could go 2-3 weeks straight, but why do that?

August-January: Summer practice, regular season, bowl game

March-April: Spring practice

That leaves February, May, June, and July as the only months without formal practices.  This method keeps the players minds fresh, and gives the feeling of year-round football so they don't become complacent.

It keeps the players on the field the longest throughout the year. The goal isn't to grind them during spring but teach a basic foundation.

And get a good idea of who the next man up is.
