Martin doing a great job today.....couple runners reached base but she's handled the situations and made some Ks when needed.

Martin gets a K for the final out...one hitter against the Vols.....nice game.....

Also....was that Braden Smith sitting on row one right behind the plate?   .....good seat for the game.

Yes.  He is there with the Sheas for most games.

Such a huge win. We only had 2 hits ourselves but made the most of them. War Eagle!

Smith and Courtney Shae are engaged to be married. He's there unless something super-important is going on.

Maybe Dean learned something. Last night, with a runner on 1st and no outs, he had McCrackin bunt the runner over, which resulted in....nothing. Today, exact same situation, he let McCrackin hit away, which resulted in a home run and produced the only two runs of the game.

Now, there is a time and place and situation for a bunt. However, when the batter is your only consistent power hitter and the batters behind her are all struggling, you don't take the bat out of the hands of your best chance to score runs.

Speaking of players hitting behind McCrackin, I won't call names but more than one of them looked really, really bad at the plate. We swung at some pitches that had zero chance of even coming close to the strike zone. Something has to improve with this offense or we'll be in some deep doo-doo come tournament time. At some point Carlson and Martin, as good as they are, are going to give up more than one or two runs. Just looking at the lineups pre-game, we had two batters hitting over .300. Tennessee had two hitting under .300. As we are seeing, it's hard to win when that's the case.

I heard Martin would be wearing suspenders today because she pitched her ass off. :hellyeah: One terrific effort in the circle. Equally impressed with Carlson in game 1.

Martin was great yesterday and showed some emotion on the last K. Doesn't it seem when she is motivated, she is nearly unhittable? I have seen it after mound visits when she is close to being pulled. She has a bit of a mean streak. That's fun to watch. This pitching staff is special. The defense is solid, just young. I hope the hitting gets figured out so we can make a deep run.
