Burns versus Kowar tomorrow.  And Auburn still with enough arms to go toe to toe with Leftwich on Sunday if they can get there.  Hopefully same early innings approach as today with better execution with RISP

They've been doing that all year. Bad habits that Gabe has had a hard time getting them to break.

They seem to attack the ball pretty well early in a game but once the get behind....or as a game moves into later innings the approach seems to change and the thought of a single or double just goes out the window....

Meanwhile....Davis just needs to keep that breaking ball out of the strike zone.....just not enough movement on it.....and RIP.....another UF run on the board. dang

Florida's the goal program right now.  This program will get there.  Hell, already made a big stride toward being there.  And they go to bed tonight with the same situation as they did last night.  Win two, go to Omaha

Can’t be too upset about this really, except the lack of production from Mize his last several outings continuing. Just hope they don’t take this beating into tomorrow and give it the ole’ college try then.

Very tough to win 2 straight from FL in their ballpark. I hope this Auburn team has it in 'em to pull it off.

Really disappointing finish.  We had everything working for us with Singer on pace to be pulled by the 5th inning.  A bad bottom half of the inning, and quick innings for Singer allowed him to save himself. Regroup and take it to them tomorrow.

Not the first time Auburn has had a bad day at the plate. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Bad way to finish today, but can’t let this beat us. Plenty of teams (8 to be exact) will be in this position at some point this weekend. Gotta bounce back strong and even it up to give yourself a shot the next day. Let’s regroup and attack tomorrow. Worst thing you can do in a super is let a game 1 loss beat you in game 2

Yep.. AU.seemed to have Singer on the ropes by the 5th....lots of pitches and control problems......and the next inning we were up and down in about a dozen pitches.....and seemed to pull himself together.

I'm kind of glad that I had to go to work and miss most of the game, now. We're winning 2-0 and then as soon as I leave for work, the next half inning Mize gave up all of those hits and runs.

3 hits, a walk and a couple of odd plays and boom, we're down by 2.  The throw to 3rd that hit the base runner changed the inning.  He was out if the ball doesn't hit him.

Down by two after all those helpful plays by AU was not bad......still in the game with lots of time left...

But the team just seemed to decide the game was over at that point and lost its fight....CBT too passive after that fiasco inning....where was the energy ?

Four bunt attempts, one successful if you're satisfied with your cleanup hitter giving up an out with two runners on base and no outs. All four attempts help kill a potential big inning. Earlier in the year we were leading the SEC in two major categories, fewest bunt attempts and most runs scored. Those two things commonly go together. It's been Butch's history to bunt hardly at all. If Gabe has indeed taken over the hitting, then Butch needs to have a prayer meeting with him and give instructions to knock off the stupid sacrifices.

College players are not like professionals. They do not have the endless hours necessary to perfect a bunting game. There are normally one or two on a team that have a knack for bunting, so use those guys if/when their bat comes up when a bunt might help. Otherwise, hit the damn ball!

By and large, baseball games are won by big innings. Surrendering one of your outs for a the possibility of maybe moving a runner one base is a rally killer. It's no way to win games.

PS: I include in "bunt attempts" those hitters that come to the plate with instructions to bunt, get two strikes on them and then try to do something. Basicaly, their at bat has been wasted so it's a failed bunt attempt.

Sorry Mikey but if you saw the game I saw, it was lost when we go down 2 runs and about every batter decided it was his job to hit a home run.   AU is not a good come from behind team.....just seems when we get down a couple runs, we lose the game strategy and help the opposing pitchers by not being selective at the plate….13 Ks yesterday was very helpful to the gators.

I've heard more than once that a solo homer is a major "rally killer" and someone needs to tell our hitters that unless it's the ninth inning in a tie game that it's not their job to win the game with a HR....especially when we are down 3 or 4 runs with a handful of innings left to play.

I have to disagree in part.  Runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs in a tight game, a bunt is not a bad call.  Bunting is not a guaranteed out either.  For that matter a batter is going to be out 2/3 of the time anyway.  All college level players should be able to lay a bunt down.  The problem I see is their selection of pitches to try to bunt.  It seems they make their mind up about a pitch before it is released.  A smart pitcher is going to throw high, trying to induce a pop up or throw a breaking ball just because the movement makes it harder to bunt.  In many ABs in an obvious bunt situation a batter can get 2 or 3 balls before he actually gets a good pitch to bunt. He may can even work a walk out of it.  Then you go for the big hit.  Bunting should always be a part of the game in certain situations.  Bunting should always be a part of batting practice.

I agree, but my "certain situations" are limited to late in a game when one run might be very important. Not early with two runners on and the cleanup hitter at bat and you have no idea how many runs will be needed to win.

In yesterday's game we used 4 of our 27 outs on bunt attempts. That's 15% of our chances, flushed by design, not by failure to hit the ball.
