The lack of diversity and field limitation is what kills.  Think of it as a basketball game where one team can only shoot if they are in the lane.  That's us. We basically only throw beyond 20 or within 5 yards.  That self limitation makes our passing game much easier to defend and scheme against.  If a defense can defend a deep post, a fly, a wr screen, a rail, or a hb swing, then they have covered 90% of our routes. We never attack the MoF. If we open up the MoF then our offense becomes much more dangerous and more difficult to defend. Doing so allows us to open up all areas of the game better.

I like that analogy. Auburn's passing offense is like a  basketball team that does not take the wide open 15 foot jump shot. Choosing instead to bomb 3 pointers or force it inside.

Spencer Rattler's team won the other semifinal. I will post the stream when the championship game starts. It starts at 1 CT.

Bo missing on his deep balls & throwing behind guys. Something he hasn't done most of the last 2 days.

Rattler TD pass. 25-8. That probably seals the game & the Elite 11 MVP for Rattler.

For those wondering Pappoe had to go home to do Summer school work so that's why he didn't play today.

He is in summer school so he can be a December grad.

Glad those big stats helped us so much against Clemson, in the 2nd half of the LSU game and in the SEC championship game.

Thank you for posting this.  The SEC Championship Game.  Hurt RB, good QB and we come out with a gameplan of KJ or bust.

to sum it up, we could have been better.

Every team in the nation could have been better than they were, in every facet of the game. Perfection doesn't exist in football. If you're in the top tier of some area, you're doing quite well there.

Think of it this way.  You have a company that makes 100 widgets a day. That qty exceeds your competition by 20/day.  However, you have the manufacturing infrastructure, technology, and work force to produce 250/day. Are you being a successful company?

Also...The opening has been good for our recruits/commits. ?

There is no guarantee on this. Many are making the argument that they want to make the widgets in a different manner, hoping and thinking that that you hit 250 a day. You still may make a 100 a day (66% completion ratio and over 3000 yds for the season) after the changes. The success is what profit (wins) did you make?

So if changes were made to the passing game as many on here would like, what would be the expected outcome? Would we have won some of those games we lost last year?

Only the LSU game I think would have been a win, if we had passed more. The 17 running plays was a tell for sure. lol.

I don;t know if more passing would have helped in the SEC champ game or the bowl game, as we had no running game due to injuries. And no team will win a game with just a passer chucking it around. Stidham is the kind of QB that needs a good running game to go with his passes, or if he is on a hot streak, he certainly can move the ball pretty fast down the field. But to equate it into wins....

I think we absolutely could have won all 3 of the games we lost before the bowl game. I don't really think about the bowl game much. We could and should have played better but I think more about the fact that we had the talent to be in the playoffs instead of that bowl game. We 100% should have beaten LSU. We should have put up a hell of a lot more than 116 yards of total offense and should have given up a hell of a lot fewer than 11 sacks against Clemson and, as it turns out, either of those things change and we very well could have won a game where the other team beat us by only scoring 14 points. The SECCG is a little more complicated. We were playing well and a bad turnover flipped the game on its head. We couldn't recover. Could we have with a more comprehensive passing attack? Well, we know that sticking with a 1-armed RB wasn't the right choice. But that was the choice that Gus made. He chose to stick with something that wasn't working because he was scared to try something different. This has happened numerous times over the last few seasons. He has to do better. .
