Hmm. Just occurred to me that an Aussie punter will probably require dramatic changes in the blocking schemes on punts. Which could be bad, but it could also be great. Given our punting in the post-Stevie Clark era, I'm'a go with

Exactly . I believe our punter has the ability for hang time , but I don’t necessarily believe that is what we out aiming for . We want to get the fielders of the punt to feel as uncomfortable as possible , allowing for them to either A). Muff the punt or B). Try not to even field it allowing for the spin of the ball to add 10 - 15 more yards against the opponent. I don’t think this guy will be a hang time specialist.

Yep...that ball must have rolled about 25- 30 yards after the receiver let it go...which sometimes is the thing to do but some of the rugby punts do seem to have a lot of top spin and off they go when the ball hits the ground.    That punt in the vid clip really flipped the field. ….hoping we have a few of those too but also hoping it's not necessary too often if the offense if clicking this year.

Yes sir. Best case scenario is not really knowing whether the punter is good or not.

Cody Bliss is in the conversation. IMO, he was the MVP of the 2006 LSU game. 

I’d take the 2013 version of Steven Clark over anyone we’ve had, including Terry Daniel. Pinning your opponent consistently inside the 5-10 yard line is a rare skill. I had a rational bammer tell me after the 2013 IB that “your punter killed us.”

It will be important for Siposs to get used to the all of the environmental changes from living in Mebourne to moving to a small American village.

-  Melbourne sits on the Indian Ocean, and Auburn does not. Significant drive required to get to a beach from AU. (We still did it every spring I went to AU). He should take a short drive to Lake Martin for some water fun.

-  Girls.... Australia is known for their beautiful women, but so is AU. Just a different accent.

-  College Student Food.....  Vegemite, Meat Pies, and Tim Tam Cookies vs Peanut Butter, Ramen Noodles, and Oreos. (btw, if you have not tried a Tim Tam, give it a shot. Very good)

-  Beverages.....  Considering most of his meals will be paid for, I will focus on beer. Beer, interesting enough is way less expensive in the US; considering Siposs is of legal age, he may like this.

-  Cookouts........ The Barby vs the Grill. Both taste. He will enjoy tasting BBQ Pork and Chicken with wonderful Alabama White Sauce.

This should not be that hard for him. I hope he loves it and sees the same family atmosphere we all do/did!

Should be interesting for him...he is about the same age as some of the young coaches I think....and JMO but unlikely to stick around for 4 years if his punting skills attract the attention of the NFL.  Hoping he has a good season though.

You may want to re check stats there preacher man. For his career, Daniel averaged 44.5 yards per punt. Clark averaged 40.7.

I could be wrong but 4 extra yards per punt doesn't exactly scream that Daniel a was significantly better distance punter than Clark. 

Then we have Kody Bliss. Bliss averaged 43.3 yards per punt. 

Also, both Bliss and Clark's ability to pin teams inside the 10 is a skill Daniel never possessed or showcased. 

So yes, we have had brilliance at the position post Daniel... Their names were Cody Bliss and Steven Clark. How fast people forget just how much of a weapon they were, and we have done nothing at the position since Clark...

Clark was very good.  His hang time and ability to pin teams back is enough for him to be part of the conversation for sure.  (I do however believe that 4 yards per punt is a big deal)

Somehow, I forgot about Bliss.  That dude was a great punter too!

Siposs has certainly ended Auburn's punting woes. Looking forward to seeing him get even better over the next two years and hopefully win the Ray Guy Award.

AUBURN, Alabama — Auburn's turnaround on special teams has been the hidden story this season.

The Tigers have improved in almost nearly every major category, but none more distract than punting. Former Aussie rules football player Arryn Siposs ranks 10th nationally at an average of 45.7 yards per punt. More importantly, net punting thanks to better coverage has improved from 115th nationally to third in the country in only one season.

“He’s been one of our MVPs overall," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "What he did the other day, we put our punt team backed up numerous teams and his ball placement was great. He’s a true weapon. (Texas) A&M’s punter was unbelievable, but I believe (Siposs) is in that category. I think he’s one of the best punters in the league and I think he’s got a chance to get even better. What stands out to me is that he’s a great competitor. He competes, he’s very consistent, and he’s a weapon.”

Siposs won the duel with Texas A&M's Braden Mann, who leads the nation at 51.3 yards per punt, in the Tigers' 28-24 victory last week. Mann averaged 44.2 yards against Auburn while Siposs eclipsed his average at 48.2 yards.

"The expectation was for me to be the No. 1 punter," Siposs said. "Hopefully not only in the SEC, but in the country. [Mann] set the benchmark for the whole year. My job was to go out there and compete as best as I can and give my team an opportunity to win a football game. I think I was able to do that, which was really good. I just want to finish off the season really strongly against some quality opposition."

Siposs' story from professional Aussie rules player to college football has been told. The 25-year-old is adjusting to life in Auburn after growing up and working professionally in Australia his entire life. He now lives with his girlfriend and their dog in Auburn.

Life is, well, different on the Plains compared to the outback.

"The 'y'alls' is obviously one thing," Siposs said. "I guess, for me, living in a big city back home in Melbourne to a small country town here is something that's been different. But, look, I've thoroughly enjoy it at the moment here. I really do enjoy it. I look forward to spending a few more years here, too, which is really nice."

Siposs isn't your typical punter at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, either. He does come from ProKick Australia, which has helped produce Ray Guy Award winners but he's also tough and willing to take a hit and dole out a few, too. He wouldn't mind utilizing his size and speed for a fake punt soon.

"I can always look forward to that," Siposs said. "There's no problem. I look forward to everything that comes my way, so it's great."

Don't waste the fake punt on Liberty.
