RB2

I hope Asa can get a couple series a game. 8-10 carries from the start and build from there. He and Kam should be able to handle the RB duties this year.

edit: yes, I know Gus isn't known for this, but it's the offseason and I can hope.

We had about 35 carries a game last season for the RBs. KJ took 24 per in the games he was in. If we could get that down to 17-20 for RB1, that would be awesome and would be perfect for RB2 to get those 8-10 carries you're suggesting.

I'm afraid that Asa will get the Barrett treatment.

My expectations for Joiner are pretty low.

In the Tiny Kingdom, he wasn't known for being a hard charger outside of games.

Hopefully, someone will get in his ear and light a fire under him.

It is the Gus Bus...we have no #2...lol

This is my concern! I like Kam. He's very driven and a hard worker but I don't see him as our R1 throughout the season. Maybe he'll shock me but by the end of the season, I expect our RB1 to be Asa or Boobie. Kam's blocking and questionable catching skills concern me a little. We seriously need to establish RB depth EARLY in the season.

I think it's a three horse race between Whitlow, Tolbert, and K. Martin, barring injury, for RB1, RB2, & RB3 . It'll be similar to '15 when we had Robinson, Thomas, and Barber.

Tolbert looks the part but i checked his weight at 199lbs. He looks heavier but i suppose his height is the reason.

It seems that all of them have their issues, but all of them (hopefully) bring something unique to the table, too. We just need Gus to allow his OC to use that as a strength instead of a weakness.

I also hope that one of them, Gatewood or Joiner can be an effective wildcat specialist. My money's on Gatewood and I'm hoping he can put a lot of those "small guys can't run between the tackles" worries to rest. I like having a dependable short yardage play.

Agree 100%. I'm sincerely hoping and praying for that to happen. Because if it does... I think this team is a playoff team. I certainly understand that Gus will never be 100% hands-off with the offense but I REALLY feel like Chip could take our offense to the next level if he was given a lot more freedom and/or voices his opinion more firmly. I've always been one to say that we have SO many weapons on offense that we fail to use correctly. I want talent on offense to be recognized quicker and used more effectively. This is where i really hope Chip make a difference. I just fear that he may not be assertive enough when needed. We shall see.
