I don’t want to hear another fan/person say anything about AUburn being Tigers but cheering War Eagle. I mean, these guys are Rebel Black Bear Sharks for crying out loud!

Not to mention the ones that yell “roh tahd!” and have an elephant for a mascot.

I dislike Ole Miss as much as any team in the SEC, largely because of desperate measures for relevance like this. Land sharks my eye. They are Blue Gills at best. WDE!

Rebels without a....

uh, thematic consistency.

They’re going all the way on this one. They’re spotting new all white unis at some point this year, calling them the great white uniform or something like that.

If they no longer have the cajones to call themselves the rebels they should just shut the place down.

Sick of this political correctness crap, and the erasure of history, and culture. That's my opinion, and I really do not care about anyone else's.

University Greys (or Grays) were Company A of the 11th Mississippi Infantry Regiment in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. Part of the Army of Northern Virginia, the Greys served in many of the most famous and bloody battles of the war.

The rifle company joined the 11th Infantry at its inception on May 4, 1861 after Mississippiseceded from the Union. Their name "University Greys" derived from the gray color of the men's uniforms and from the fact that almost all of the Greys were students at the University of Mississippi. Nearly the entire student body (135 men) enlisted; only four students reported for classes in fall 1861, so few that the university closed temporarily.

The most famous engagement of the University Greys was at Pickett's Chargeduring the Battle of Gettysburg, when the Confederates made a desperate frontal assault on the Union entrenchments atop Cemetery Ridge. The Greys penetrated further into the Union position than any other unit, but at the terrible cost of sustaining 100% casualties—every soldier was either killed or wounded.

After Gettysburg, the depleted Greys were merged with Company G (the "Lamar Rifles"). The unit continued to fight until the last days of the war.

The story of the University Grays is memorialized in an opera composed by Dr. Arthur Kreutz who was Professor of Music at the University of Mississippi using text from the book of the same name by Zoe Lund Schiller. The opera was published by Ricordi of New York in 1961. A copy of the score resides in the library of the Northern Illinois University. The opera was given its first performance in 1961 at the University of Mississippi under the auspices of the Department of Music.

Notice I had a couple of face palm reactions to my post about my feelings on the University of Mississippi throwing away their proud history of gallantry, and sacrifice.

I hope neither of the two of you have an ancestor who sacrificed themselves in that war, as I did.

Silly now to try to hang on to anything Rebels imo. They've already bowed to the pressure. They should have gone ahead with some reasonable 100% change, instead of this nonsense they've been trying.

I have an old Shoneys football from the ‘90s that shows all the old time SEC logos prior to the recent expansion. It’s becoming more and more a treasure every day. That was the time when I became an Auburn fan too so there’s that.

How do they expect anyone to take them seriously after this?

If I was Jimmy Buffett I would be changing the name of my beer or suing someone.

I live about 45 minutes from Oxford and interact with Ole Miss fans on a daily basis. Colonel Reb is still alive and kicking. He may not be their official mascot anymore, but he will always be the fans’ official mascot.

I have literally never seen anyone wearing a Black Bear or Landshark logo.

Big Al's flaccid cloth trunk has always bugged me. What would it take to pack a little structure to that thing?
