@AUsince72I'm sitting in a good spot now in life from that tough summer in the hospital.

Well yeah, you're in Texas now. 😁

@AUsince72, thanks for the update.  Soldier through it as best you can and we’ll keep you covered in prayer.  🙏🏻 My specific prayer is that the last few weeks of radiation will go easier than you think and that you won’t worry about it now.

It's good to hear from you @AUsince72. I was curious so I looked up name meanings and Nathan means "gift from God". Of course I'm sure you know that but it seemed to fit the verse.

Luke 6:38, Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. ”

You have given a lot my friend and you are set to receive blessings many times over. Peace and comfort to you and your family. Prayers lifted.

Hi Cole!  Yes sir, I am a big follower of yours and enjoy your perspective even when we disagree on occassion, though agree with much of your view.   I have been lurking a bit but not posting (I'll update everyone in a bit).

Yes, I believe you did speak of your cancer experience and God bless you and your strength.  I haven't had to stay in a hospital but I've been all over SW Fla, from Tampa to my town of North Port, seeing various specialists and having treatments, etc. since August last year.  However, in your situation that must have been terribly hard and depressing.  I'm so glad you're in a good place and I praise the Lord for your recovery!

I'm going through a tough stage now, as I'll explain in my next post, but don't want to take away from your battle and the fact that I, too, appreciate us being cool.  I respect most posters but you are among the ones I hope to hug at a tailgate and say thanks brother!

As for the Gabapentin, it's not affecting my weight.  The mac & cheese, potatoes and other carbs are THAT culprit....although, very sadly....still not that sweet nectar of fermented hops & barley 😫😫😫.  It's been doing okay for me as it definitely takes the edge off, though I'm too far gone to ever feel "normal" apparently.  Lyrica is an option but with my Mom being diabetic and Dad having major heart issues, the side-effects are too scary for me, compared to Gab.

Again,  thanks brother, War Eagle and God bless you!

Nathan

I understand everything you are saying and I wish you the best. I'm definitely looking forward to the tailgate meet up and a big hug. I didn't really deal with chemo so I don't know what that's like, they were pretty aggressive with me and I went under the knife immediately, hardest thing I dealt with was the catheter and having to stay active. It was just a bunch of pain. The doctor told me he was impressed with my mental fortitude as I didn't even take medicine for a headache before all of that. My mom had the doctor come help her talk to me and convince me to take pain medication.  They said I was incredibly stubborn....go figure 😂

Having family helped and a bunch of people from the Tennessee Valley Authority from a bunch of different plants wrote me cards and things like that and it helped me through as well. When you can getting on here and talking sports may help. I don't know we're all different and I'm just rambling telling you things that helped me. I want you to have a feeling of relief as well. Once again you're in my prayersand if you ever just need to yelland cuss somebody out just hit me up! I'll understand.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." ~ John 14:27

Quick update AUFam.

Just had a CT scan for mapping purposes today as in roughly 2 weeks I'll begin a radiation & chemo combination to hopefully (possibly) eradicate the original tumor.   Again this won't cure me but the idea of having no more signs of the cancer are so exciting!!

I'll have the combination treatment 5 days a week for 6 weeks (the last 2 probably fairly painful) and then 6 weeks of recovery.

Thank you for the continued prayers & support.  It means the world to me!

God bless and War Eagle!

Haven't been on here in awhile, 72,...keep the faith! Prayers goin up!

And I'll end this with this Bible verse: Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”

War Eagle y'all!

Love this, 72!  You are right...autumn in the Smokies and in God's (OTHER) country is calling you--as in East Tennessee (with Auburn being one, too).  Thank you for the update; prayers continue!  What would any of us do without God's presence, provision, plan...and definitely people on the journey along the way.  None of us can fully understand, and we're not meant to.  But each little puzzle piece of "something similar" or "something connectional" lightens the load, I have to believe.  Much love and "HOLD THE LINE"!  We are cheering for you!

  • 4 weeks later...

Just wanted to say, today begins my last week of radiation (week 7).  Though I'm in lots of pain at times and feel so miserable in general, I am still so uplifted by those who pray for me and those who ask me for updates.

After this week ends I get six weeks of recovery and then finally another PET scan.  Please continue to pray as my blessed hope is NO MORE TUMOR!

Thanks again and I love you all AUFAM!!

War Eagle!

I will continue to pray for your full recovery, and I'm sure there are many here who will do the same. Keep up the fight!! I cannot imagine what you're going through but I'm sure it's been incredibly difficult. Check in when you feel like it.....we are all pulling for you.

I wanted too, to show this just because I think it's awesome.  My Aunt and her church group made me a prayer quilt and it's beautiful.  Can't wait to live in TN where I can use it a lot more HAHA..

Don't mind the ugly guy...just enjoy the quilt 😁

Seriously, you look great!!  No! More! Tumor!

"Lord Jesus...among many incomprehensible identities, You are Rapha, the God Who heals. 72 knows from whence comes his strength, and he readily testifies to it. We come together and ask for strength and complete healing for this phase of his faithful, grueling journey. We ask that You touch that tumor and render it useless to cause damage or stress from this point forward. Shrink it, remove it, eradicate its very memory save for a head-and-heart-turning legacy of hope and faith in YOU to come. We are asking for Your steady peace and constant provision for Sonya and the girls, as well, and for the family extended. You've promised that wherever two or more are gathered, there You are with them. You've asked us to be bold and specific when we pray, full of faith and impervious to doubt. Well, Lord, we are FAR more than two. We thank You for the privilege of calling upon You to do mighty things only You can do in the life of our brother and all who love him. We know the glory and the peace are Yours to gain and give. And we speak with firm faith these words...IT IS DONE. In Your mighty and powerful name we pray, Amen."

Very cool quilt. Good to hear that you're at the end of your radiation treatments. Prayers will continue to ease your pain and speed your healing. That Tennessee mountain air is going to do you a world of good. Nothing like Fall in the mountains.

Funny enough, the idea of losing my hair didn't bother me at all.  However, all the hard chemo did was make it a little thinner and grow slower.  Also, it WAS grayer during the chemo but seems to have darkened again.

Keep in mind, due to neuropathy and VERY low blood platelets count (due to the chemo I was on) I haven't had hard chemo since Feb-March.  Because of my low platelets I can't even have the chemo that's supposed to be combined with the radiation I'm finishing up (instead they added a week of radiation from 6-7 weeks).

People usually do say I look great considering since I was able to maintain my appetite due to some other serious meds.  But I'm pale as can be now and walk with a cane.  I can't walk more than 30 mins or so without giving my feet a break (I literally cannot feel them if I walk too much) and everything I touch with my hands or toes feels like sandpaper.  I'm keeping big pharma in business.

Sorry.  That's a long, negative way of saying "thanks".  Haha!

Buddy, we're here for the bad stuff. Unload it on us. There are a LOT of us here to share the load. Let us help you be strong and let us take some of the weight off you and your family. Your poor feet don't need it!

I don't post a lot, but just wanted you to know that there are a lot of us praying for you! Only makes sense that the older we get, the more encounters we have with this terrible disease. Sometimes it is even difficult to read what you are going through because of some of the battles that I have been through with very close friends and loved ones. But I have been keeping up with you and praying continually for you, just don't know how to respond sometimes. Praying for a complete healing for you my brother in Christ!!!
