The pop star castigated the GOP Senate candidate in Tennessee. A predictable backlash followed, including from Donald Trump.

I don't think anybody is losing their mind over any action taken by an entertainer. Taylor Swift is nice to look at but who cares what she thinks? Once long ago, Jayne Mansfield was charged with singing "God Bless America" in front of a live audience on Miami Beach. My sister had to crouch behind a potted palm and whisper the words to her. So no, the thoughts of entertainment celebrates aren't worthy of any notice, let along losing one's mind over.

Did you read what she wrote?  She didn't put anyone down in the process.  If anything, she stated the reasons why she is backing certain candidates and then went out of her way to say it's important that everyone votes for the candidates that best reflect their values.  There are young impressionable people that listen to her.  If we as a society can't get behind that message from people with reach, then we have bigger problems.  She's using her platform for good.

No. I stopped at the hogwash remark "Conservatives are losing their minds". Swift may write good things, she may write horrible things, I don't know or particularly care. I did think these "XXX is driving the YYY's insane" type things were limited to teenyboppers on their tweets.

The crazies on 4chan are apparently going nuts, but they also had some weird conspiracy theory that she was a white supremacist.  I don't consider them every day conservatives on the street.

I'm just saying we shouldn't say "who cares what she thinks because she's a celeb" without at least understanding what she said.  She's encouraging a very large, politically inactive audience to use their constitutional right to vote based on individual values.  That should be applauded.

I agree that is a good thing. Least someone is trying to offset the Kapernaek message of voting is useless because it is part of a corrupt and oppressive systems.

Disappointed in her comments, but if you  thinks celebs are your guide to voting or political views, then you must be a shallow person.

Ironic, considering Trump's background.

Proof that this was a good thing.  The folks at vote.org (a site that gets people registered) have said visitors and registrations have spiked in the 24 hours since her message was put out.

Very successful business man? LMAO.

Trump is a man whose dad was so wealthy that he set his son up so well that six bankruptcies and numerous failed businesses couldn’t  put a dent in his finances.   Add a little con and tax fraud to boot.

Now, now. Do you believe the NY Times? At least he is  the type that doesn't give up and after getting knocked down, he gets back up and makes another effort.

I didn't  vote for Trump because he told  me, I voted against HC. I wouldn't base my vote on any sports star or celeb opinion.

Yes I believe the NYT because I’ve read stories from numerous other media outlets that tell the same story. I’ve read testimonies of students he defrauded with a fake university. I’ve read stories from mom and pop businesses that Trump sunk because he wouldn’t pay his debts. I’ve read stories about how the city of Las Vegas wouldn’t let Trump have a casino there because he was too crooked. You May have voted against HC but you elected a low IQ con man to do one of the most important jobs in the world.

Good.  Taylor Swift agrees with you.  Her words, not mine here:

"Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway.  So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info. Happy Voting!"

Have you read their editors views on white people, especially the white male? How can you trust a story from the NYT about a white male.

All three of the authors on the Trump Tax Fraud piece are white. And Trump is orange.

Who is Taylor Swift and why should anyone care what she thinks about anything important.   I don't know any Reps who really care but it is disturbing that some Dems might be impressed by her endorsement and think it significant...

More accurately, he was a successful huckster and con man who started with at $400 million grubstake.

Spit that kool aid out.

I mean, she has millions of voting age people that follow her on social media.  If she gets people to listen to a candidate's platform, then yes, it's significant.
