Well, I guess we can shut this thread down and open it back up around the middle-end of September 2019?

Yep it was fun... see y'all next year!

Another year HC experience for Heuple...

Another year learning under Riley for Beamer...

Another year of learning the SECs offensive tendencies for Aranda...

I've really warmed up to the idea of Heuple. To take a team that was undefeated the year before and go undefeated again is a remarkable feat..We need to be in contact with him right now and tell him he is our next coach.Because we will  fire Gus after he craps the bed again next season. Plus  Heuple  did have his back up QB ready to win a big game after his starter went down to injury.

I’m sorry, I just can’t stand having this thread dormant. The thought of a replacement is the only thing I have to hold on to football-wise, right now.

https://247sports.com/Coach/Tosh-Lupoi-715/ Give me a elite recruiter for our next Head Coach. Add him to the list.

Okay, so if next year ends up being CGM's final year, would the state of our O-line for 2020 (losing all five starters, lack of talent thanks to lazy OL coach hires) keep us from getting a better coach than, say, Rhett Lashlee? Tennessee comes to mind...

How much we want to pay up will make or break who we want to hire. TAMU showed you can hire almost anyone if you pay enough money.

TAMU had LOADS of talent. We can't get into a vicious cycle where we can't get a better coach than, say, Rhett Lashlee because of our OL talent, and we can't get OL talent because we can't get a good coach. And we're setting up for an all-senior O-line next year.

Seriously, I'd like to keep this thread going throughout this offseason, because the thought of being able to get someone like the guy in my profile pic is the only thing giving me hope for our future.

We can get a good OL coach. Gus refuses to hire the best available coach. He wants to just hire someone he is comfortable with. We have more talent  than TAMU did when they made a change. Do they have more OL talent? I would guess. Hard to have a worse OL than us in the league. From 2014- 2018 classes the only class they finished higher than us in the recruiting rankings was 2014 and they finished 1 spot higher.

You make a good point. Come to think of it, with Tennessee's scenario that worries me, the OL was FAR from their only problem. And aside from OL we should have a solid roster in the scenario we're looking for a new coach.

Ut is a sh*t show. We are nowhere close to them. We HAVE the talent. They do not. We just have a coach who does not get the most out of them.

Well, I think Pruitt is getting them some needed talent. I'm obviously talking about when they were looking for a coach after Kiffin screwed them.

UT will never be what they used to be because their recruiting base sucks and is nowhere near as good as ours. Pruitt is a elite recruiter but you can only do so much with the crutin ground you got to work with up there. They are not a big national brand anymore so they cannot recruit nationally really well like they used to. He is a great enough recruiter where he will get a Wayna Morris and other elite recruits every now and then. Not enough to win big though. I think they will become south carolina place as the perennial 7-8 win team.

The places they recruit are pretty similar to ours? But my point stands, OL is the only position in which we will have roster troubles in the scenario of a new coach after next year, whereas when Dooley took over and onwards, they had MANY different units with such deficiencies.

Talking about their home state. Yah besides that we have a very very desirable job. We just have to hire the best guy we can. None of this political BS with the Board putting their nose in the search and getting some yes man they can control per usual.

I feel like with Gus it's kinda our president Donald Trump... Are you gonna get Good Gus today? Or Bad Gus Today? 2010 Iron Bowl Gus? Or 2016 Clemson-game Gus?

Hopefully this bowl game was the shot in the arm needed to make strides in the off season.

I just think 2019 will be a completely different year.. I have confidence in Gus and think he will not only prove the critics wrong, but, will also, show CFB, Auburn is a threat, yet again!!  WDE!!!!

"No one coaches offense like I do. Believe me."--Gus, probably.

Realistic options, in no order: Rhule, Campbell, Venables, Clark, Cristobal, Kiffin, maybe Fleck.

Dream options: Meyer, Stoops, Franklin.
