Mike4AU 1,735
Think about this. Folks want to keep the defensive staff intact. The likelihood of that happening with any coach other than Steele is probably very slim. Also consider that the only reason we were in the UF and LSU games was because of our defense. Give me a defensive HC who has a vision for offense.

I'm glad we usually agree. Also, nice little poll here, AUDevil. 7 hours ago, AUDevil said: 1. Who is a coach who you thought would be a huge success, but fell flat? Currently, Jim Harbaugh. He still has time but MAN have they seemingly underachieved. 7 hours ago, AUDevil said: 2. Who is a present up and coming coach that you think will turn into a huge success? I'm warming up to Fleck, at MN. Also, I like Klieman, at K-State. 7 hours ago, AUDevil said: 3. Who is a coach that you knew would suck, but everyone else was into for some reason? Urban Meyer (as I've stated a few times). Not because he's not a great coach & recruiter, because he is fantastic. However, the first rivalry game he loses here and everyone will have to worry if he's going to get a hang-nail or stump his toe and need to retire again.....at least until the USCw or Notre Dame jobs open up. Gowebb11 9,258
If you want the best coach with the best resume, it’s Urban Meyer and no one else is close. A young guy with a great ‘starter’ resume is Matt Rhule. He’s rebuilt 2 programs from the bottom up in a short period of time. I’m personally of the belief that Kevin Steele would be a great choice. He’s a fabulous leader, would retain our defensive mojo, (and recruiting) and is smart enough/well connected enough to hire an excellent offensive staff.
