aubiefifty 16,733
Auburn opens as favorite over No. 25 Texas A&M ByBrian Perroni 2-3 minutes Though the offense had some struggles getting the ball in the end zone, Texas A&M had been on a roll entering this past season. Ranked No. 16 in the country, the Aggies went into a night game at Mississippi State with most expecting the visitors to pull out the victory. The Bulldogs opened the week as three-point favorites but that line fell to close to a pick 'em by kickoff. It turns out that the people that initially set the line were right. The Aggie offense again struggled, but this time the defense did as well. A&M allowed a season-high passing total by Nick Fitzgerald, who threw two touchdowns after coming in without a touchdown pass in SEC. Mississippi State won, 28-13. This coming weekend, No. 25 Texas A&M has its third consecutive road game as they spend a month away from Kyle Field. The Aggies (5-3, 3-2 SEC) will head to Auburn (5-3, 2-3) with a morning kickoff set. It is hard to win on the road in the SEC and, after the Aggies' performance this past weekend, it is not surprising that they open as an underdog. According to VegasInsider, Auburn is an early 5.5-point favorite in the contest. Like A&M, Auburn has also had its struggles on offense. The team is coming off a bye and had a win against Ole Miss the week before, but quarterback Jarrett Stidham has regressed this year and the offense struggled mightily in losses to Tennessee and Ole Miss. This will be a big game for both teams as they look to seize momemtum heading into the final stretch of the season. Gus Malzahn and Auburn found themselves ranked in the top 10 only a few weeks ago and entered the season with national title aspirations. Texas A&M, in its first year under Jimbo Fisher, was a bit of a media darling with ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit predicting on College GameDay this past weekend that the Aggies would not lose again this season. 12COMMENTS Whichever team gets its offense on track first will have the upper hand in this one. The game will kick off at 11 a.m. Central from Jordan-Hare Stadium. It will air nationally on ESPN. 247Sports
