TitanTiger 20,471
Quote Auburn will have a different offensive coordinator next season. Chip Lindsey will not return as the Tigers' offensive coordinator and is expected to land another job in the near future, sources told AL.com. Kansas has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Lindsey, who would join Les Miles’ new staff. He has also reportedly interviewed for the Tennessee OC job along with former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze. Lindsey was recruiting for Auburn as recently as this past weekend when he attended Pinson Valley’s playoff game along with defensive line coach Rodney Garner. Lindsey’s decision to leave Auburn comes in the wake of the team’s 52-21 loss to Alabama that dropped the Tigers to 7-5 on the year and 3-5 in SEC play, marking the second season that Auburn has posted a sub-.500 record in SEC play during Gus Malzahn’s tenure. The Tigers' offense trudged through the regular-season slate this year, reaching new statistical lows in the Gus Malzahn era while displaying inconsistent play throughout the year. The team’s offense finished the regular season ranked 67th nationally in rushing (164.1 yards per game), 88th in passing (209.5), 75th in passing efficiency (131.19), 71st in scoring (28.3 points per game) and 102nd nationally on third downs (35.8 percent). https://www.al.com/sports/2018/12/auburn-oc-chip-lindsey-will-not-return-next-season.html#incart_river_index

McLoofus 35,182
I feel like Ben Affleck's character in Good Will Hunting, showing up at Matt Damon's door every morning hoping he won't be there to answer it but sad when it finally happens. Thanks, Chip. You've got a lot of Auburn fans pulling for you. Good luck and enjoy the fresh air wherever you go.

auburnphan 6,050
Who is willing to be Gus OC is probably the question to be asked? The last two, one went to UConn, the other possibly to Kansas. Both considered one of the 5 worst D1 football programs.
Auburn Kev 1,653
Is there a quality OC who would want to work under Gus and his offense, after seeing how he hamstrung the two he has had? Both will have taken inferior jobs to get away from Gus.

Squidward2016 51
How sure are we about the reported hamstrings on hiring assistants? I can't fathom why anyone involved (Leath, Harbert, or Greene) would intentionally sabotage Gus's chances at success next year. I feel like if Gus wants Freeze we'll pay for it

Problem there is Gus hasn't let an offense coach do real work with the QBs before. Hard to see him letting go of that control now.
