Last non-con game before SEC play gets started. This game should not be close but if i was to rank NoFl versus the other teams faced by AU this season then i would put them around the UAB level. Likely a step down from UAB. This is actually a fairly balanced team with 6 guys averaging right at 8 pts and better per game. The leader of the team seems to be Horchler you is listed as a F at 6'8". He is close to averaging a double double for the team with 15.7 ppg and 9.9 rebounds per game. Sams and Escobar are the other players too look out for. Sams is listed as a 6'7" guard which jumped out at me. Terrible 3 pt percentage though so he must be a driver. Escobar looks like a 3pt specialist hitting .410 pct of his 3s. Would love to see him CONSISTENTLY well guarded on the perimeter.

Like UAB we should handle these guys but we'll have to play well of course. This teams can score points but they are terrible on defense giving up almost 80ppg. Being at home i expect we don't have to worry about going ice cold so i don't expect us to beat ourselves in this one. I hope to see us play smart on offense and with high intensity on D. Be smart with the ball, share the ball and take good shots. That stuff needs to become second nature to us now that SEC play is close. Have to value positions as games will be tighter. Great chance to work on that on this game. 

 It would be great if this was the game that Purifoy got a chance to play some significant minutes. If he can't get them here it becomes harder and harder to see him making a meaningful impact this season. He was our wildcard coming in but that wild is more looking like a 3 instead of an Ace. Even if Purifoy can't start this season it would be nice to see him develop as a scoring threat for when the 2nd rotation comes in. With McCormick coming along we are pretty close to have a full second string we can run out there not have a huge drop off. The second string did well in the Murray State game. We sat Harper for a solid 3 minutes in the second half and Murray state could not capitalize. That is absolutely huge going forward.

I think it's going to take Danjel about 7 or 8 more games to find his groove but we reallllly need to get up early and give him some run this weekend.

Purifoy is trying to squeeze in there between Okeke and Dunbar(Sometimes Doughty).  Horace and Mc are trying to get time with Wiley....  McCormick with Brown and Harper.and Doughty....

AU up 45-23 at the break. We’ve played excellent defense against a team that returned 91% of their scoring from last season. They are a pretty good 3 pt shooting team as well.
