C’mon, now. Having a political leader sign a Bible is kinda culty

I see you did edit the title a bit. Is a bit odd having the POTUS sign your Bible IMO. None of my business how others feel.

None of yours either yet you do take the opportunity to express your hate and disdain for anyone remotely supporting President Trump.

No. I have friends and family who support Trump. Don’t feel hate or disdain for them. I am baffled by folks inability to see through him, though, and to fail to see many of the larger concerns that surround the way he does business.

His inclination to bring attention to minute collateral is evidence of his hierarchy of concerns.

You’re not concerned with the bigger issues, but the cult-like allegiance to Trump is what impedes folks from any objective analysis of bigger issues.

And you continue to spew uninformed trash, insinuating my “allegiance” to Trump, notwithstanding the numerous times I have criticized him. You’ll have to try harder, Tex. Seriously. Try to keep up.

I see another one of your traits is that you’re void of logic.

Let me ask you this, are the people who, many of which directly suffered from the storm, allowed Trump to sign their Bibles cultists? Yes or no? Tell me what you would say to them. Irrespective of whether you think signing was proper.

Your sole role on this board is to be an arrogant jerk. I haven’t even detected much interest in Auburn.

Why would I say anything negative to folks that have suffered? A political figure in that situation should gladly sign something else, not feed whatever is motivating such misplaced devotion. But Trump cultivates that type of unhealthy adoration. That’s my issue.

So apparently he’s lost all hope of civil recognition from you. Very well then.

*I’ll just address the cohesive part* - Of course it’s all in love. I’m glad you know this.

I don’t understand how you can see a man who has never remotely shown any empathy or concern for humanity in his 70 years as suddenly this great POTUS who is concerned about people rural AL. None of Trump’s actions line up with a claim that he cares. The Bible autograph session is evidence of that. It was merely a photo op to create optics in the face of recent bad press.

Obsessive? :-\

All he did was post the link Nola and you immediately started flaming and insulting him.

And just look at the insults.   Really, "devoid of logic"?   You are sounding like a little jerk.

I’ve evidenced my hierarchy of concern, as you pointed out. But the centralization of his visit, in this thread, absurdly emphasizes a minute collateral point, especially with regards to a catastrophic event that hits especially close to home. Anyone who offers a refutation on the basis of that centrality is “a member of the cult.” Ludicrous....

Seriously?

I think this is an interesting topic. If I had an autograph book and a Bible and ran into Trump or any POTUS I would certainly have him to sign the autograph book. If I had my Bible at church and ran into the POTUS I certainly might consider having him sign in the back of the Bible. Bibles are rarely thrown away. I got an autograph from Bo Jackson on a loose sheet of paper at the Sugar Bowl in 1990 and it was destroyed before I got back to the hotel. However, if people have Trump or any POTUS sign their Bible because they consider him some religious figure then it would be weird. Keep in mind that VERY few people have the opportunity to get an autograph from the POTUS.

I would love to know from democrats, if you had your Bible and ran into Obama while he was giving autographs, would you let him sign it?

Just for the record, I live in Montgomery and only heard about Trump signing Bibles when I saw this thread. It seems that only certain people are obsessing about this issue.

Or you’re marginally informed. It’s really the height of self-centeredness to say if folks are aware of something you’re not it must be that they’re obsessed.

Everyone knows this about you Elle. You tell us with every post exactly how you feel about Trump with (unfortunately) the same mass of rigor each time. That horse has been beaten dead. Nonetheless, I can’t affirm your views precisely because of how you articulate them. Your rhetoric is far too subjective, which makes it difficult to converse with you. For example - “has never remotely...” blah blah blah.... "clearly it was merely a photo op because that theory most-sufficenitly appeases my fancy." Those are overly subjective, unverifiable statements, the validity of which rests solely on one’s whim.

The past few weeks have seen some great threads. Jump in some of those so its not just a continuation of the same ol same ol with you. Seriously, look into it.

The views I’ve formed on Trump are based on facts about him. Stepping over a bleeding man on the floor of your business and saying it’s disgusting while worrying about ruining your marble floor is indicative of a lack of empathy. Mocking a disabled man is indicative of a lack of empathy. Disrespecting a Gold Star family and a POW is indicative of a lack of empathy. And I’ll put the final nail in this coffin, the fact that Trump has demonstrated no concern for Puerto Rico but puts an A+ response on red state AL is a loud statement of exactly why he fiens concern.

That said, I’ll post what I want when I want and no conservative male will have any say in it. 💋

Good grief, what an ignorant thread.

How many of you complained when Obama, Bush or Reagan signed a bible? Don't bother outing your hypocritical selves, we all know the answer.

At some point, you whiny butthurt crybabies need to grow up.

And the point of this thread was to belittle the "cultist" at Providence Baptist. Then you get help and turn it into bash Trump thread.

We knew Trump was a jackass when elected. You are complete jackass. I can detect that much more than your arrogant end can detect Nola's ties to Auburn

Hmmm. All the other three could probably say Second Corinthians instead of two Corinthians.

The other three didn’t pay off porn stars they slept with.

He was visiting a church and people had bibles.....big surprise?          Maybe the complaints should be pointed toward the people who were requesting the autographs and DT was just obliging them.   .  Just another case of the haters looking for something to gripe about.

There are reasons the state of Alabama ranks 49th in many, many, many categories.

Don’t tread more water. Give up. The above post puts you at odds with the premise of the thread. Look at the title.

I’m not sure if you’re aware, but I didn’t pen the title. Also threads tend to deviate from the OP as posters make other observations. All of my observations relate back to the visit to AL. But if you’re concerned about me breaking your forum rules then I suppose you could have a moderator address it.

Celebs will sign many things that are just thrust in front of them almost. Friend of mine that played for the Mets told me once about crap people wanted him to sign and while he started for years wasn't a household name.

Plus (sorry the Wash Post want money to view for me):

Quote

Peter Manseau, the Smithsonian’s curator of religion, tells The Washington Post that other presidents have signed Bibles, too. Specifically, says Manseau, Barack Obama signed one or more Bibles during his time in office, as did George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. Manseau did not, however, say when or where those Bible signings took place.

This is silly. Would be silly if complaining about Barrack, Hillary, Kennedy, Beto, Bush's, or whoever.
