Any news????

Figured this would have already been posted but: https://www.al.com/auburnbasketball/index.ssf/2018/10/report_austin_wiley_to_miss_a.html#incart_river_index

Auburn will apparently be without center Austin Wiley for a "few weeks" while he deals with a sprained left foot

Wiley met with a specialist on Saturday morning, and according to a report from AuburnUndercover.com, coach Bruce Pearl expects the Tigers' big man to miss a few weeks, though he will address the injury further on Monday. Auburn opens the season Nov. 6 against South Alabama -- 24 days from Saturday's diagnosis, which should provide optimism that Wiley may not miss any games to start the year.

We have some curse of the bambino level voodoo with our basketball program ...

I promise you there are many on this board who are clueless to this curse you speak of.

So not a broken  bone in his foot but  a sprain?

Apparently. Sprains can be worse than breaks sometimes. There are 26 bones in the foot (thanks Google!) and some are really small and detecting a break can be difficult as well. I hope they are very cautious about him returning or this could be aggravated very easily.

True.  The news that it's a sprain is nothing to rejoice over. Torn ligaments are slow to heal and never fully recover.  A clean bone break could be preferable, even if it takes another week or two to fully heal.

This is all conjecture. Its a sprain, not torn ligaments. Bad sprain? Who knows. We dont. Worse than a break? Complete guess. Yes a really bad sprain can be worse than a break. Some breaks can be worse than sprains too. Pointless to try to guess which it is in this case, because thats all it is - a guess.

I'm not guessing about his injury, which is why I am not rejoicing. I was just making a point.

And a "sprain" is stretched or torn ligaments, by definition.

Hope we can get a mostly full season out of Wiley. I’d hate for him to turn into those what could have been stories

would be really sad. Especially considering none of the stuff that went down last season was his fault.

But I think he'll be fine

The key is to be sure he is really OK before we bring him back. To soon and he re-injures himself. We need him for the long term.
