Is Cam coming to the end of his NFL career?

Another miserable game....some excuses perhaps because of the lack of help but the INTs and anemic offensive production doesn't bode well for the Panthers ...or for his future.

If Shula and Gettleman don’t get out of there first, Cam could definitely become their casualty. Offense is flat and there is no running game anymore. Something has to change.

It makes no sense. He lit up the pats defense to the tune of 300 plus yards on the road. The same defense that just shut down the falcons.

I could see him getting a shot in another scheme. Carolina tried to load up and be a running team but they have failed miserably at that.

JMO but he is not a conventional drop back passer and probably never will be.  Despite all his years in the league, still throws off the wrong foot and nobody is looking for a running QB it seems.

Panthers hate to run him but he's still the guy to get 2 or 3 yards when you really need them.

I see him every now and then on local TV interviews...and he just looks "down"....not the same guy he was a few years ago.

Cam would’ve truly been Superman if he could’ve played in an Andy Reid type system.

Yep, he's taken a beating physically and mentally the last couple of years. I think he could be amazing behind a real OL, but that time may be passed. He would have been better served spending a year or so behind a veteran QB about to retire, but I don't think those day exist anymore either. Rookie QBs starting used to be almost unheard of, but now they make so much you have to play them, and you have to hope they don't break in the first year of struggles. Cam didn't, but Carolina didn't really improve much on offense either.

JMO but Cam's career was wrecked when the OC who picked him in the draft left for another team.  Schula is the standard plain vanilla NFL OC....bought his playbook online from the NFL store and has done little or nothing to maximize Cam's capabilities.

Exactly. He has several QB flaws and the only good thing about the Panthers is that they mostly have a decent defense that can back Cam. Going to the Broncos would be perfect for him. He’d have better offensive support and wouldn’t have to sacrifice defensive support. Cam is probably down because he’s not getting much help. Catch-22 might be a good pass catching RB but he’s not a serviceable running RB. Neither is Stewart at  this point in his long RB career.

Yep it's tough being a running team without a running back....and generally there are few serious running teams in the NFL these days...it's a passing league now.    Rivera is the NFL version of Gus perhaps....gonna do it his way...no matter what..

And without good blockers. Check out our current starting TE and Devin Funchess (former TE) whiff on their blocks after Cam made the right decision.

New generation of tight ends and WRs...."we wasn't signed to block....out job is to catch passes".....well, most of them.

A bad sign..

things not going well and Richardson is not going to be happy.  He's one of the most PR conscious owners in the league being in a small market and is a bit at odd with Cam already over the anthem issue. .

Cam needs to get his act together; this is PR media mishap number 3 for the season.

- “routes” coment to female reporter

-Doesn’t show up for interview

-Rolls his eyes over a fair question and abruptly leaves.

All occurring almost within back to back to back weeks.

Richardson is bound to be pissed if what you say is true.

Trade him to Cleveland. No one cares what happens with the Browns do Cam could just be insignificant since he hates to be bothered with press conferences. Unbelievable.

ever since he dyed his goatee blonde and grew out his hair he has been acting out like this and his play has suffered.

If you want to understand Jerry Richardson...read this:   http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/6894818/carolina-panthers-jerry-richardson-cam-newton-no-tats-piercings

From Day #1 he was grooming Cam to be the face of the team the way he saw it....and the face of the NFL.   It worked for a while.....but things have gone a bit sour.

Thanks for the context. Richardson seems like a good owner. During the incident today, Cam was wearing his own line of Under Armour during the interview, that’s more than enough reason to act mature. He’s already lost one yogurt sponsorship.

Richardson is a former NFL player (colts), very family oriented, went to college in Spartanburg, SC at  Wofford and uses them as his training site...built a new stadium for them.....as you say....a good owner and a very good guy.

Cam was clearly pissed at Rivera when Rivera tried to kick on 4th and inches from the 30. Video will be coming afterwards.

Cody Parkey just sucessfullly did another one of his trademark onside kicks which dribbles ten yards before he recovers it himself. Looks way too easy.

Congrats to Karlos Dansby for finally picking up his elusive 20th pick today against the 49ers to become only the 5th LB in history with 20 Ints/40 sacks.  The other 4 (counting Ray Lewis and Urlacher who will be when eligible) are HOFers.  Dansby doesn't get the accolades he probably deserves because of the teams he's on, but he's been very open about wanting 20/40 because in his mind it enshrines him in the HOF.  I hope it does.  Congrats Karlos and WDE!!
