It's not the same excitment as beating a ranked team. AU beat both as them like they are supposed to and covered the spread that the "experts" put on it. Vegas guys are smarter than any of us and if they were not the casinos would go broke. I don't expect the fans to be jumping around and rushing the field but we should at least appreciate the fact the team got the job done as expected.

Vegas guys make money no matter who wins. Their expertise is setting odds such that both sides think their tram can beat the odds....not necessarily in correctly rating the teams.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Vegas guys only create the initial line.  From that point the line moves based upon how people bet. It's not a mastermind in Vegas that sets the final line, it is everyone that bets on the game.  The goal for Vegas is to create a 50/50 split on both sides of the line.  If that happens the house wins regardless if the team covers or not.

This pretty much tells me we are going to continue running it up the gut. Gus doesn't give a damn about where the opponents strengths and weaknesses are. He will try to do what he does regardless.

If I'm proven wrong, and I very much hope I am, I will most certainly admit it.

I've not kept count, have you been wrong more than right?

If we start running a slant on the RPO this week I'll crap my pants. That's the missing link for this offense that can open up the run and alleviate some of the issues that our O Line is facing.

You likely didn't get any likes for a reason. A pressing D can easily take away the slant. Don't believe me? Watch bama.

Every other school has also played at least 2 cupcakes just like we have...  That would make the ranking still a fair assessment.

Great point. One mostly overlooked.

I agree with ya.  I am more scared of A&M than I was Oregon, though.... And our boys stole that one.  I have not seen drastic improvement yet from week to week.  Hopefully, potential will start to be realized against the Aggies.

Side note on Kent State and unrelated:  The combination of Gatewood and Joiner in the backfield is scary.  I hope it will be used often moving forward.

This should prove a much tougher game than Oregon. Scoring will be difficult. Can our oline improve? They must! Can our d hold? They must!

I'm not sold on this team yet, but hoping to be sold by games end.

If Gus, his coaching staff, and most importantly the players can pull this one off, much hope remains for the season. WDE!!!

Yes some runs up the middle for balance is key. However 17 straight runs up the middle is not good coaching. Remove the remedial coaching mistakes and hard fought losses will be forgiven. Eliminate the winnable games lost to coaching blunders and people will be fine. You can look at the weak points in wins also. Anyone who's played a sport should be familiar with this concept.

Tiger

Tre Mason says hello! LOL. No seriously, have we really ran 17 plays up the middle consecutively? That's crazy if so.

I've been sleepless wondering why my likes weren't rolling in...

If we ran it on an RPO, then the slant wouldn't be a given. Only if the defense bit on give.

Maybe Michigan should be throwing slants....getting hammered by Wisc and Patterson having trouble finding an open receiver...OOps…..attempt at a slant over the middle is intercepted …again.

JMO but I'd think that meeechigan fans would be starting to tire of Harbaugh.

I'll give you this, LSU just scored their third td on a slant. Granted against Vandy, but it would be nice if we tried the play. Not sure we have that dynamic receiver to pull it off, but damn, just try.

By the way, LSU has that great O coord Steve Ensminger. ;D

We do have a Slant off an RPO look in the offense. Was our only TD against UGA in the SEC Title in 2017. Ran one against Kent State to Hastings and he dropped it. We use it, just not a lot. Would like to see more.

Against LSU in 2017 we ran up the gut on 17 consecutive 1st downs.

I have been absolutely blown away by LSU's offense. As frustrated as we have been the last couple seasons, my head would explode if I were an LSU fan seeing what they have been capable of the last few seasons. They have been wasting their talent.

Dude if I were an LSU fan I would forget the past and focus on the present. They are impressive thus far this season.

Auburn is only the #11 running team in the country because of the Kent State game. We're only averaging about 190 ypg rushing without it (467 vs 172, 206).

We'll need the pass to set up the run this weekend.

Probably true but all those ahead of us has had easier games than Kent st. Just saying. Also though I do think that the Kent St. was a breakout game where we actually tried some different things. In fact the change began the second half of the Tulane game. I think Gus is thinking a little outside his normal box. If I’m right that’s a good thing. We will see shortly. WDE ride the brand and get em tigers. beat them aggies
