AP Voters Are A Joke

That's why it HURTS MORE for them now. Not even special privileges or their storied history can get them there this year.

Been thinking. Saban wants to leave on a high note. Yesterday was another year sentence to you know where...because his pride won't let him walk away without at least one more.  Yet meanwhile, he is slipping and other programs are advancing...pushing it out of reach even more. Hence the hissy fits.

As hissy fits go that ranked right up there in the Hissy Fit Hall of Fame too, HAHA.

The AP poll is irrelevant -- the only poll that matters is the CFB.  In 2019, uat lost to the Clemson, LSU & now the AU Tigers.  According to the Chinese calendar, 2019 is supposed to be the Year of the Boar.  I disagree.... it's the Year of the TIGER(S)!

If it's the year of the BOAR, let Arky's wildest coaching dreams come true...

I guess the biggest gripe is Alabama has no top 25 wins, Texas A&M (7-5) was their best win, and they lost all marquee games they've been in (LSU and Auburn). Had it been any other SEC team that played Alabama's schedule and went 10-2 (with both losses to LSU and Auburn), would they still remain in top ten? I think not.

Name recognition and brand is what keeping Alabama in top ten, and undeservedly so.

Alabama went on the road and almost beat Auburn, the 15th ranked team in the nation with their backup QB. And they're undeserving of a top 10 ranking?

They also put up 45 points on one of the nation's best defenses.

And lost.

Sure, on paper, Alabama is a top 3 team. But are they deserving of such a ranking when they have lost every big game that has been thrown at them? So far they are 0-2.

Which begs the question--what needs to belong in the CFP, the best OR the most deserving teams?

Sure, but Alabama has the 5th strongest schedule in college football, much stronger than Oregon, Clemson, Utah, Oklahoma, etc. Not sure where you want them dropped to. Auburn got the benefit of the doubt when they lost to Florida, LSU and Georgia.

I will say this about Alabama. Their defense has been trash all season and it's the only reason they aren't sitting at no. 1. Their backup QB with little experience ripped through Auburn's defense and actually out performed our first string QB.

Are you sure about that? I've seen one that said 5th but also seen another that said 50th, 56th, and 61st. I agree with Auburn getting the benefit of the doubt, and I think this may be fueled by the fact Auburn defeated #11 Oregon in first week of college football and had a consensus top 5 SOS this season.

But end of the day, Alabama is 0-2 against top 15 teams and Auburn is 2-3 against top eleven this year. And that's the way the ball bounces.

I don’t even have to look....no way they have the fifth strongest schedule...

Don't know how they formulate their rankings but no way A&M has only the 9th toughest schedule. They played Clemson, Auburn, bamr, uga, and lsu

Two of these voters put us at 15th and the majority have Bama still in the top 10 and us out of it.

You obviously have forgotten about the "eye test" method of polling.  🙄

Bama doesn’t have ugly losses or good wins. They’re Alabama. I don’t think a doink was going to drop them from 5 to 11 and below lol. Auburn definitely doesn’t deserve to jump back into top 10, they had their chance and failed with a multitude of clutch opportunities. Yeah they played a hard schedule but everyone else has to play theirs out too

Btw the CFP slurps Auburn (deservingly in most cases I’d probably say), so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them at 10 in that poll. However I still don’t see Bama being lower than 9th. Minnesota was undefeated and beat PSU only to see them fall ahead of them, it happens

That site also lists tOSU as having the toughest schedule in all of 2019 cfb ... ... let that sink in.

No offense but who really cares where we’re ranked at this point. If we win our bowl game there’s a good chance we finish in the top 10

The reason to care is that a team's ranking could have an affect on where that team goes to their bowl game. Maybe not much, but every little bit helps or hurts.

Auburn went on the road and almost beat #1 LSU. Shouldn't that put AU in the top ten too?

Not when you lose to Florida on the road and Georgia at home.

Bad logic by the AP but this is just one more reason why Gus needs to quit dropping games early in the season because of poor offense. We really shouldn't be having this discussion.

Except the bowl committees don't use this poll or the coaches poll.  They use the CFP poll.  Why people get their panties in a wad over irrelevant polls is beyond me.

Decades upon decades of it being the most important poll in the land vs half a decade of it being irrelevant... Change takes time.

Also, it is still an influencer in and reflection of popular opinion. Auburn fans tend to worry about that late in a good season, even though "we" love to embrace the underdog (read: little brother) role every preseason.

And let's be honest. We're on that Hatfields and McCoys ish. Doesn't really matter who pulls tide. They're gonna get theirs.

I get the need for people to shift understanding, but you would think of all fan bases ours should get it more than others.  AP and Coaches had us at #5 or #6 two years ago heading into the SEC Title game.  CFP had us #2.   2017 Auburn is literally proof that the AP doesn't matter.
