For some reason, when I watched his Hudl video I didn't perceive him shifting gears like I do watching this one. Even weirder, I think the plays are the same.

Regardless, he seems able to hit the nitrous boost when he needs it and the top end speed is elite. Damn, sign this guy up. Him and Dawson in the same class? Ugh. Filthy.

I hope we get him so Dawson can play corner for us

I'd be perfectly happy with that.

Really, my theory is sign 4.3 40/10.5 100 speed and figure out what to do with it later. I'd say we only screwed that up once and I'm confident we won't ever make that particular mistake again.

Dawson would still get his 1st shot at WR or so the reports say.

Curious what's on your mind? Trovon Reed immediately popped in my head.

JFIII

As for Reed, he signed in 2010, so I'll put that on Chiz whether it's true or not :)

Such another misuse of talent.

We always wanted him as a WR so I imagine with Chiz being a defensive guy he probably didn't have a strong push for Reed playing O. Guess would be it was Gus.

Definitely. 3 or 4 years of him developing as a CB would have been great.

Well, that's still on Chiz. Especially if we went down to Thibodeaux, LA and did whatever we did to land Reed and GRob and he didn't realize we had a hell of a DB prospect on our hands. And it's on him and Roof that they didn't realize sooner that Reed needed to switch. I mean, it's not on Gus to do that work for the other side of the ball as an OC.

Never mind that Reed probably could have been a fantastic WR in any number of other offenses, and that we didn't exactly develop the position well during his time here.

Turning a 5* and the #1 player in Louisiana into a blocking specialist at WR was a misuse???

I'd love to know what would happen if he was in the 2020 class. We're so much better prepared to utilize him at either position now.

You’ve been a big detractor of Kody Burns as a wide receiver coach, specifically his developmental skills at the position. Do you think Morris automatically turns that around? If so I hope you’re right.

True on my assessment of Kodi. But yes, I'm of the opinion that- provided Morris continues to have appropriate say in how the offense runs, of course- the combination of Morris and Burns will enable the success of all facets of the pass game more than any prior combination of coaching talent has since 2010. I think that better scheme (routes, play calls, versatility) and more catchable balls to go around will make all our WRs better, with or without improved positional coaching.

I am definitely out of my depth on that. But my gut tells me that almost every offensive player's development has been limited by offensive scheme since 2014.

I don’t believe it is the position coach but more so the instructions they were given to follow.  If Morris runs the practice, drills and film room I believe that we will see more development along with what you said.

@AuburnTiger4Life we don’t boom until we get an actual commit. Bama is still very much in play and they are selling Leary on being the next Waddle after he goes pro Which is expected after this season. Also there still hasn’t been any Auburn crystal ball picis yet so until there are we should be cautiously optimistic at best.

Still should wait until after commits are official. We haven’t done well lately on people jinxing things with Auburn. A couple of basketball games from this past season come to mind.

Nope. That’s the pitch they’re selling him. And we all buy in recruiting on some level
