Texas A&M football on one-year probation, Jimbo Fisher gets six-month show-cause order

Texas A&M football was placed on probation for a year and coach Jimbo Fisher was given a six-month show-cause order after he and the program were found to have violated NCAA recruiting and athletic-related activity rules.

The findings, released on Thursday, stemmed from violations between January 2018 and February 2019, including an instance in which Fisher and an assistant coach had impermissible contact with a recruit. As part of the negotiated resolution, the school had to end recruitment of the recruit in question.

The NCAA did not name the assistant coach, but Texas A&M later identified him as Jay Graham, who is now an assistant at Tennessee.

That’s what they get for that absurd contract.  Gus’s is bad enough bit Jimbo’s is insane.  Other than the one NC he won with the rapist he hasn’t done much.  The situation with the Criminoles was getting totally out of hand when he left and it looks like he carried the lying and cheating right on to A&M.  I wonder if they could cut him loose for cause, get out of the contract and cut their losses.

Then he is hired by Nicky with Sark etc. I’d guess to “make it up to him “ for getting him fired. IMHO

I get that Jimbo is deservedly not well-liked, but this is ridiculous. Players at Bama cruise around in Escalades and Range Rovers and entire families are relocated cross country while parents get jobs and houses. Same system cropping up at UGA and UT. Nothing to see there. But TAMU gets probation for practices running long and incidental recruit contact? Silly.

I think it means that the NCAA has given aTm an out when it comes to Jimbo's contract. If Jimbo doesn't produce this season, if there's a season, they can fire him for cause and void that guaranteed contract they gave him.
