Imagine if Bo Nix stays healthy and wants to be starting QB for 5 years. He would smash every AU career QB record.

He needs...

  • 426 more completions
  • 827 more passing attempts (MY GOD STAN WHITE THREW THE BALL A LOT)
  • 5,241 more passing yards
  • 35 more passing touchdowns

Just for reference!

If not for the shortened season there would be a good chance Tank would break Dyer’s record.

1,093 yards and 5 TDs for Dyer his Freshman year

432 yards and 3 TDs so far for Tank

So he has 661 yards to go and 2 TDs in 5 more games. The touchdown mark should be more than doable (Gus should be locked in the stockades if Tank doesn't get two more in five more games).

He needs to average 132.2 yards rushing 0.4 touchdowns over the next 5 games to pass Dyer (who had a full 12 games).

The best way to get there would be by really having a big 150+ type game or two.

It’s doable.  LSU has a pretty crappy run d.  Miss state may be a name your score game so he should get plenty of love there.  The last 3 will be tough even though Ole Miss ran all over Bama.

Some things to watch in the Mississippi State game:

Bo Nix could pass Reggie Slack in Passing Yards by getting more than 157+ passing yards

Bo Nix doesn't have a lot of big passing TD games but he isn't far behind a lot of the guys ahead of him:

  • Needs 2 Passing TDs to tie Ben Leard
  • Needs 4 Passing TDs to tie Cam Newton
  • Needs 5 Passing TDs to tie Patrick Nix

Shaun Shives is 86 yards from breaking 1,000 rushing yards in his career

Shaun Shivers needs 2 more rushing touchdowns to break into the top 50

----

Tank Bigsby recently passed Jovon Robinson in rushing yards

Tank Bigsby needs 2 more rushing touchdowns to break into the top 60

----

MAR needs 6 more rushing yards to break into the top 200 for Auburn rushing yards

MAR has yet to get his first rushing touchdown

----

Eli Stove needs one more reception to tie Emory Blake for 6th most; Stove would need 9 receptions to tie Tyrone Goodson for 5th most

Eli Stove needs 34 more receiving yards to break into the top 25

----

Seth Williams is 3 receptions behind Stove

Seth Williams needs 4 more receiving yards to pass Frank Sanders, 28 to pass Emory Blake, 104 to pass Courtney Taylor, and 180 to take 3rd from Karsten Bailey

Seth Williams needs 1 receiving TD to pass Emory Blake and tie Darvin Adams & Karsten Bailey for 3rd, 2 to tie Ben Obomanu for 2nd, and a whopping 13 to tie Terry Beasley

Sorry you disagree Zeke. Stats are worthless without wins behind them and for 2 years, I just don’t see Nix as an SEC caliber QB. I mean, damn a walk on for GA bested him head to head this year. We play GA now, they would destroy us worse than they did earlier.

Updated for the last regular season game of 2020. Tank Bigsby, obviously, made some huge strides after almost having a 200 yard game without being 100%

I think these stats for Nix are used a lot to make a case for him being a good quarterback, but I think comparing him against other Auburn QBs isn't a good metric to go by. I say that for the following reasons:

1) Auburn has had a few storied QBs, but we don't really have a history of elite QBs that he's being judged against. Our best QB was only here for one year. Bo is probably ahead of Cam in some categories, but only a dotard would say he's better than Cam in any way. A better metric would be how he compares to other second year QBs in P5 conferences.

2) The game has changed a lot over the past few decades. Aside from this year, teams play more games. Teams are also passing the ball a lot more often and run more plays every game than they did in the past. The fact he's already ranked so high in pass attempts after just his second season goes to show how much he's passing the ball in comparison to other Auburn QBs throughout history. Naturally, he would rack up some more yardage and completions than his predecessors who threw less than him.

3) If we are to compare him to other QBs from Auburn's past, I think it should be on the grounds of completion percentage, yards per attempt, attempt-to-touchdown ratio, rating, etc. All would give a more accurate depiction of his abilities in comparison to them. Nonetheless, I find how he stacks up against other Auburn QBs to be a meaningless. He doesn't compete against them—he competes against other teams and their QBs.

This is not an attempt to hate on your data or Bo, but I think we need to be objective in our evaluation of him. If solid metrics can be provided to show that he's a good QB, then I'll believe it. Right now, I don't think there's been any case made by anyone to suggest that he's anything more than mediocre.

3) If we are to compare him to other QBs from Auburn's past, I think it should be on the grounds of completion percentage, yards per attempt, TDs per attempt, rating, etc.

Please God take this s*** somewhere else. Every ******* thread has to be dunking on Nix. This is literally a thread to track ALL players moving up the All-Time board. Celebrating accomplishments not coming in to b**** about another player.

If you want to talk about completion percentage he's actually better than all but 3-4 of the guys ahead of him.

Want to talk about TD-INT ratio? He's leagues better than most of the QBs who get wanked by Auburn fans.

To insinuate he's mediocre is absolutely ******* assanine. Does he have things to improve? Obviously. But to act like he's another Kiehl Frazier or Clint Mosley is ridiculous. The head coach he's playing under is about to get canned. Usually that's more of and indictment of the coaching than it is the talent level.

Seth Williams barely managed to get 5 catches and almost never had any decent separation from a defender. Where's all the b******* about Seth? Or, do fans realize the scheme and route trees ******* blow making it infinitely easier for corners to predict what's coming. I literally never see any other discussions from the brain dead lemmings other than "quarterback quarterback quarterback blah blah blah blah blah blah." That's all anyone ever wants to discuss. Never see a single other player called out by name this often despite there being numerous who could be and it would be even more justified.

The kid has played behind makeshift OLs that wouldn't start in most of the SEC. The offense he's running is so ******* predictable we haven't thrown a touchdown in Athens in like 7 years.

Again, take this stupid s*** to one of the 50 other threads where people are beating their d**** and getting off on critiquing the kid. I seriously think some of the people on here are addicted to it.

I'm so tired of this damn conversation. Auburn fans do this to every single quarterback who has played under Gus. Then, years later, they'll sit their and wank a Brandon Cox or Chris Todd like they were gods.

Take this conversation somewhere else. I'm sick of it.
