Hot Seats and Vacancies

As we know, USCe is shopping for a new head coach.

After today's loss in the Loser Bowl against the Knitting Lions, Whorebouy is also feeling his pants scorching.

The other big time team that is likely to fire its head coach is Texas. Herman, just like Mr Strong before him, has got a longhorn in the wronghole, unable to drag the Texans out of mediocrity. And of course, Texas expects to be competing for national championships, or at least conference championships, or at least close to upsetting the Okies occasionally. Which just goes to show that a coach who gets hot-lucking for a year or two is not necessarily the savior.

Then there is USCw, which has mysteriously stuck with Heldon for several years. Illinois is still trying to find a coach who can recruit a competitive team.

And really, who are they going to hire? No, Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops are NOT coming out of retirement. Matt Campbell at Iowa State? Luke Fickell at Cincinnati? Fleck from Minnesota? Sitake from BYU?

Campbell or Fickell might be a good catch for a team like USCe. But Texas will want a big name and USC will want a big name with West Coast cred. And Michigan -- blank. Fleck is not leaving the Midwest and likely will stick with Minnesota for more years. Texas & Michigan & USC are going to really be in deep doodoo if they fire their head coaches this year.

If teams like USCw, Texas, and Michigan are going to be scrambling for the latest, greatest phenom coach, USCe and other mid-pack SEC teams ..... ahem .....

I blame Saban- honestly. Every year this happens and the salaries go up up up and the patience goes down down down. All because he had 1 year of meh before turning West Vance into what they are today and doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

I’d take Fickell or Fleck. If you’re a team mired in mediocrity like Carolina and other SEC teams...ahem... might as well give it a shot. You may get Derrick Dooley (which you keep looking if that happens)or you may get the next Meyer.

Derek Dooley's best season was 8-5 at a G5. Definitely less proven than Fickell or Fleck.
