A. Greene....

aside from his initial published comment, where is he?  he doesn't need/have to give us play-by-play of behind the scenes activities, but geez, you would think he would at least give a public update (just to shut some of us up anyway).  or is he bound and gagged somewhere in loachapoka?

I'd just like a reply, even if it is a form letter one, to my email offering up my kids college savings to buy out Gus.   I mean, I'm offering Auburn my kids money for college, and the dude didn't even say thank you or you are ******* stupid.....nothing.

I could answer that proposal for you, if you'd like.

Apparently the AD at Auburn has different job duties when compared to every other AD.

Maybe its a way for schools to stop having to replace ADs with coaches go flat?? Maybe AU is ahead of the curve in taking the AD out of hiring decisions

My one knock against him....Jughead talked too much, but Greene needs a ventriliquist

He is not a big school AD. Should be in the MAC or something along that size.

I can remember the outrage when I stated: seems like a good guy and all that, but an AD from Buffalo, is just not ready to make the leap to a school like Auburn.

This isn’t on our AD. The AD reports to the president, and the president has handed the decision off to boosters. It Greene tried to take over the decision, Gouge would just fire him. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the boosters or at the president. The boosters are threatening to withhold funds, and the president is bowing to them. The president should manage the boosters, and let the AD do his job. Instead, the president has essentially made him a nonfactor in the decision. There’s really nothing he could do except for maybe threatening to quit.

i am not "mad" at greene....just think something public--as bland as it may be--needs to be put out by the university.  i'd think he SHOULD be that person.  you'd almost think they would want him to be the one, (scapegoat if needed).

Can’t have it both ways. It can’t be Bruce Pearl was about to be fired than Greene stepped in and saved the day. Now it’s the situation where the athletic director has nothing to do with the fiasco of hiring a new coach?  Totally not his fault, he has nothing to do with it etc. etc.

Again, just can’t have a both ways..

The AD needs to be a charismatic leader and take the reins in this process.

On another note: they don’t want Hugh Greeze because of baggage but they’re considering Lane Kiffin?? Just seems like a dumpster fire.

So Greene has the power over the basketball program but absolutely no power over the football program?

We don't know enough of what is going on to criticize Greene.  Almost everybody on the board wanted Malzan gone at the same time most thought because of money he would be at Auburn at least 1 more year. With Greene as AD Malzan is gone now not next year. We are not getting any news and people are bashing him for that but it is possible we have contacted some and they have asked us to keep their names out while they review. We don't know is my big point it could be a real reason there is no information or he is doing a bad job or something in between.  Remember Greene is still dealing with the same PTB's that were here before him who have mucked up things before.  Lets at least let this play out and not pillory him based on rumors.

He has no power over Jimmy and Harbert.  Either they weren't involved in that decision or AG was able to persuade them to his side.  Which IMO, is what he should be doing now.

Well then this is AU looking foolish as usual. This is not even a permanent president yet is it? Shows very little trust in Greene being able to do his supposed job. He should at least be more front and center. I mean I live in GA and McGarrity is always very vocal, but then UGA is a pretty solidly run program, unlike AU.

AD Greene is in the middle of what could possibly be the most important decision of his tenure as AD at Auburn and y'all want updates?!? Let the man do his job. I think he knows how important this is and wants to get it right. Its asinine to even criticize this man when most got what they wanted when he made the decision to recommend CGM be terminated.  Chill and let the process work.

Correct.

Greene has as much power as the president gives him. The president is not allowing him to make the hire.

Gouge was president in the past. He was brought back for some reason.

Honestly, from what I’ve read, the decision to fire Gus wasn’t even his. The boosters strong armed the president on that one too.

The AD is not being allowed to run the football program right now.

I’m not a fan of Lane and he is controversial because of some childish antics. But to my knowledge, he hasn’t left a team on NCAA probation or been proven to use escorts while on the job. LK is shady but Freeze is convicted. I think some draw a line between to two.

Exactly. All universities have big time boosters, but it seems the ones that are AU are screw ups when it comes to allowing those in charge to do their jobs without constant meddling. This has been an issue for AU since at least the 80’s when I was starting to attend games. Until they quit their constant meddling, this is how AU will be perceived, “A troublesome place to try to run a successful program due to the antics of a few”. That’s why the media thinks AU is so pathetic.
