Spencer Danielson, the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Boise, will be part of Harsin’s staff at Auburn and is expected to arrive into town at some point in the coming days, sources told AL.com.

Any info on what his role will be?

Not yet, but we need a pass rush coach desperately and he's worked with BSU's STUDs his first two years there.

Boise fans are very sad to see him go. They say he’s very energetic and the players love him. And their D-line was a big strength of the team.

Ok, my turn to be Zeek. Kind of disappointed here with this one. After watching a bunch of their videos on youtube, I have been saying- please dont bring him, please dont bring him, please dont bring him.

I hope I'm just an idiot and don't see something special about this hire.

Could be just a analyst. Gotta build the farm, something we’re not used to

1. Wait til we know what his role will be

2. It's okay if you don't see anything special. Just know that our head coach does. Doesn't mean he *is* special, but like @metafour pointed out, Harsin isn't a dummy and he wanted this guy here in some capacity.

3. There is value in having young, hungry guys on staff.

That will be the key to most of his hires.  Being outside of the typical Auburn family hire we probably won't know as much about the hires or their history.

A good attitude, But, be careful. Bird said to never trust Golf under any circumstances. Just sayin.......

Can you elaborate on why you didn’t want to bring him?

Does this mean Coach Garner is out or will he have other duties?

Garner is hopefully gone regardless. Still unknown what role SD will be in.

When a new coach is hired it is always good to have familiar coaches around you.  Having said that; it took two years for Gus to go full *yes* man on us and it didn’t turn out well.  If any of these coaches are replaced in two years it will be interesting to see who Harsin chooses to replace them with.

I will be happy to see Harsin’s type of coaching with the people he feels comfortable with for a few years as long as there is improvement.

By the way, I bet this guy ends up being the Edge/"Buck"/whatever nomenclature you want to use coach on the staff.

My thoughts to. We haven't had a legit pass rusher in years. We need a dedicated Pass rush coach.

Sure. Just from watching some of their game videos on Youtube. Looked like they werent that dominate up front. Could be scheme I guess. I dont know, and I was getting just glimpses of it but the Defense seemed kind of weak. Like I said I may be totally way off and I can eat crow when I need too.

We are iffy on some of these hires because we don’t know anything about them. The good news is, opposing SEC coaches know nothing about them either. War Damn Harsin! 🦅

In a 3-3-5, like they run, most disruption doesn't come from the DL

Boise State led the conference in sacks in 2018 and 2019 by a big margin. Those are the only two seasons this decade in which they've led the conference in sacks.

With a defensive position coach hired, is it safe to assume the DC has been hired already and not announced ?

My take on Spencer Danielson from the interviews I’ve seen on YouTube is that he’s very high strung, intense.  Every single interview he talks like it’s game time.  He is very passionate, to an extreme.  I’ve read that DL is a strength of Boise and they’ve put some players in the league.  Don’t know too much about their scheme or techniques, or his knowledge or capability, but if nothing else the guy operates at all out, top speed all the time.  Motor runs at higher RPMs than any coach on Malzahn’s staff did for what that’s worth, if anything.
