Tennessee closed the 2019 season by rallying to a 23-22 victory over Indiana in the Gator Bowl, and UT announced Pruitt’s contract extension two days before the start of the 2020 season. The contract extension added two years to Pruitt’s deal and included a raise set to begin this year and an increased buyout.

"I'm excited that this extension gives Jeremy the runway to continue to build on the momentum and energy we have around our football program coming out of last season," Fulmer said in a news release announcing that deal.

"He has made excellent progress entering just his third year and clearly realizes there is much work still to be done. This extension secures him to continue his efforts to return our program to a championship level and shows our commitment to him, his staff, this team and the future of the Tennessee Volunteers.”

UT Chancellor (Plowman) doubling down on their commitment to integrity amidst all the shenanigans that have gone on within the football program alone.  Not sure how anybody inside the UT athletic department takes themselves seriously after this.  Gives a whole new meaning to the idea of CYA.

It's official. Kevin Steele is interim Head Coach.

Wild.

18 days ago Steele was interim head coach at Auburn.

With UTK a dumpster fire with sanctions looming, who would take the job?

Steele could be a good choice to serve 2-3 years, then gracefully retire.

She knows that this is "nuke them from orbit" type stuff.

Fulmer helps land bama on probation, and now a bama coach's actions will lead to UT getting on probation and an early exit for Fulmer.  The SEC is so awesome.  Sometimes revenge comes 15 or 20 years later.

Word is that Saban was one of the main coaches complaining to the NCAA about UT. Kid you not. It's really just the ......

Going to be interesting if Pruitt goes scorched earth on some folks. All the way from changing grades in high school while HC to now.

I would imagine Kevin would stay coach through the probation that is bound to come.  Perfect situation for him.  Worked out for all lol.

UT has had 4 coaches in the past 12 seasons...what has happened to that program?

This is every bit as bad as it sounds and she's resigned to getting nuked from orbit.

When the umbrella of protection is removed, the results can get ugly. Is Smart next ?

Yep.   Same as it was with "Bar" Bryant.     Coaches who learned all of their "skills" under the head man became hot coaching commodities.     And if you look at the coaching tree under Bryant, a bunch of them ended up getting their programs on probation, including CPD.     There's one skill you can't take with you and that's the air and ground cover from the REC.     They are the best in college football at what they do.    A complete network of non-boosters (per the NCAA definition) that take care of the dirty business in recruiting and do it without getting anyone caught.    ThUGA won't have that good of a system and I sure HOPE that slimy little dirtbag gets his arse in the NCAA wringer over big$$$ payouts and player tampering.

Not that it really matters, but he was never HC until "now".  Pretty sure the cat is out of the bag as relates to high school and the ultimate POS Rush Propst.  I'm thinking ol' Alabama Outlaw scorched everything himself in that fiasco....

Since Pruitt has now been fired, I wonder if coach Harsin might think about hiring him as OSL coach. What say y'all? It's just a thought on a slow day.

There are  only two ways to make this episode of “As the Dumpster Burns” better.   Either move it to Tuscaloosa, or have UTk hire Gus as the next head coach only to have Gus turn around and fire Steele.
