2021 Tennessee Transfer RB Eric Gray (OU 1/27)

He has entered the transfer portal and Per rivals Auburn has emerged as an early favorite.

would be a great 1-2 punch with Tank if we could land him. He will need a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately but given the issues that is going on in Tennessee that seems likely. I will update this post later with highlights.

Our defense made everyone look like Emmitt last year.  How did he do against other defenses and how involved with the Mickey D bags was he?

@ellitor: were we on him at all in high school? I cannot recall. Memphis is not a place we have traditionally recruited, at least not well

Yup, he's not a home-run threat necessarily but a thumper with good hands out of the backfield. Similar to the guy from Texas we're high on right now.

@keywest for what it’s worth the staff was originally hoping for one transfer and 2 high school running backs. Not sure if that’s changed with these two transfer studs being available.

 I would think Gray is looking for a starting position. Don't see him coming to Au with Tank here.

I don't think most RBs think like this as much any more.  The days of 30-40 carries of the game are gone.  The worry of who actually takes the first snap of the game is inconsequential.  They will get their 15-20 carries whether the first one is the first snap or not.

I think he was also their leading receiver with somewhere around 40 yards or so in that game if I remember correctly.  I would be very happy to have him.

If we can land one high quality transfer (ie...former quality starter). then I would sign only one HS RB. There is limited higher end HS RB's that haven't signed and I wouldn't waste a spot to just add a body.

You just can't have enough 5'7" 170 LB RB's, it is just amazing how OSU, bammer, UGA and Clemson can compete without having a full stable on them.
