Paladin 3,305
High priority for AU 20 offers including AU, Oregon, Penn St., Utah, Boise St, BYU, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, ND, Washington, & Wisky Quote 4-star WR from Oregon has interest in Auburn Jeffrey Lee • AuburnSports Senior Editor @JLeeAURivals Rivals250 wide receiver Darrius Clemons lives in Portland, Ore. It’s approximately 2,600 miles from Auburn, Ala. But Auburn doesn’t care, and neither does Clemons. “I’m not against leaving home, not at all,” Clemons said. “I have legit interest in Auburn, 100 percent.” The interest is mutual. Auburn has offered Clemons and made him a high priority. New wide receivers coach Cornelius Williams is the point man in Clemons’ recruitment and is making sure Clemons knows he is wanted. “I just talked to Coach Williams again (on Tuesday),” Clemons said. “He is recruiting me hard and we’ve started to form a bond.” Clemons never has met Williams, but he likes what he’s heard from Auburn’s first-year receivers coach. “I like him a lot,” Clemons said. “He’s a young guy. He’s new to Auburn and you can tell that he takes his job seriously and wants to build something great there. He is determined to be the best. He is determined to be a great coach, and I like that about him a lot.” Clemons also likes that Williams will be coaching under Bryan Harsin. Clemons already was familiar with Harsin, the former Boise State coach. “Coach Harsin offered me before he took the job at Auburn, so I’ve known him,” Clemons said. “I like his offense. They like to get receivers that are really good at specific things, whether that’s a small, shifty guy or someone who can take the top off or a big-bodied receiver. They like to incorporate plays for them. Their offense is really catered to receivers.” It’s one of the reasons Clemons wants to learn more about Auburn. He likes Williams. He likes Harsin. He likes the offense. “I’m very interested in Auburn,” Clemons said. “I’ve never been there, but I think I’m going to set up a virtual visit sometime soon.” As a junior, Clemons, who is 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, had 37 receptions for 760 yards (20.5 avg.) and nine touchdowns. Rivals ranks Clemons the No. 14 wide receiver in the 2022 class and No. 131 in the RIvals250. Edited December 15, 2021 by Paladin 1 1

AuburnNTexas 7,099
This is type of 1 off from outside of our normal recruiting region that you want. A 6' 3" 205 Pound WR who runs a laser timed 4.37 is a difference maker. He can beat you deep, he can catch over the middle, I saw some great downfield blocking, adjustments to underthrown balls, and just blowing by guys. Like most I want us to do well in our major recruiting areas Alabama, Georgia, Florida but extend out for a difference maker like this young man or for a position of need like OT.

I like how he goes down to make some low catches just above the ground: at around 3:19 & also the last clip. That's a sure sign of a good receiver.

He contacted Kodi Burns about a potential stud receiver (Emeka Egbuka) he was working with several years ago but Kodi didnt get back to him until roughly a year later. He told Courtney we didnt recruit that far away. I was curious if we got on this kid from Courtney but I see you said it was because of Harsin. Paladin 3,305
Auburn takes lead for Rivals250 WR Jeffrey Lee • AuburnSports Senior Editor @JLeeAURivals Rivals250 wide receiver Darrius Clemons made the 2,600-mile trip from Portland, Ore., to the campus of Auburn University over the weekend for an official visit. Clemons said the trip was worth it — and even better than expected. “I loved it,” Clemons said. “It was a great trip. It was 1,000% better than I expected. It wow’d me, exceeded my expectations by a mile.” Clemons arrived in Auburn late Thursday night and stayed until early Sunday morning. “I loved the bond I made with the players,” Clemons said. “I’m coming from the Pacific Northwest and most of the players are from Atlanta and Alabama. I hung out with Smoke Monday and Jaylin Simpson and those guys were super cool and super nice to me.” Clemons also spent a lot of time with first-year wide receivers coach Cornelius Williams. “I was with him the entire time,” Clemons said. “He’s a super great guy. Of all the people recruiting me, he’s definitely up there with the guys I have the best relationship with.” Clemons was impressed with Williams, Bryan Harsin, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and even defensive line coach Nick Eason. “Coach Eason, that’s my guy,” Clemons said. “The whole staff, they recruit the hell out of people. They know what to do when it comes to recruiting. They know how to make Auburn look like a very enticing place.” So much so that Clemons left with Auburn at the top of his list. “They are in the lead right now, but take that with a grain of salt,” Clemons said. “That’s my first official visit, so of course I’m going to be wow’d. I’m sure I’ll feel the same way about the rest of my visits, but I loved my visit to Auburn and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. “I love the culture. They have good quarterbacks and a good defense, but they don’t have a lot of depth at wide receivers. I think that provides someone like me a great opportunity.” Clemons, who is scheduled to be an early enrollee, already is planning to return to Auburn in the fall. “I’m looking into buying tickets to come back for a game,” Clemons said. “It will either be the Iron Bowl or the UGA game.” Clemons will visit Southern California next weekend and Penn State June 25-27. He doesn’t have any other visits set at this time. “I’m not in a rush,” Clemons said. “I’m going to take my time and make the right decision. I’m not going to commit and de-commit.” Rivals ranks Clemons, who is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, the No. 14 wide receiver in the 2022 class and No. 137 in the Rivals250.
AuburnNTexas 7,099
I loved that he was wowed by the visit but was also straight that he realized this was 1st visit and that other visit's might also wow him. That shows he is level headed. The one thing I saw that I laughed a little bit about was he was going to possibly buy tickets for Iron Bowl or Ga. game. Good luck with that those are hard tickets to get and require deep pockets. Dumb question but if an Auburn supporter did sell him tickets at face value would that be legal as that is what it says the ticket value is?

Probably pretty common, especially for West Coast guys. Auburn the football team is fairly well known, but Auburn the city and Auburn the university are pretty vague concepts to most, I think. And if they are known, it's likely to be as a very conservative campus in a small town somewhere in Alabama or Georgia. Of course, as a wide receiver, it would be understandable if his football expectations were pretty low, too.

He could probably gain access one way or the other through the AD. I don't know any kind of specifics, and maybe I'm wrong about this, but I would imagine sideline passes might be given, or maybe he'd be let into the student section, since the amount in there can be more variable...or something to give him access to the game. I mean, if a top prospect wants to come to Auburn to watch the game, it makes sense to accommodate him as much as (legally) possible. 1
