We have a place in Athens Alabama called Dub’s Burgers and they are the best! I think they have the same fries grease from the 60’s and they put a little dollop on the bun. Double bacon cheeseburger and fries is about 6$

There is a place in Fayetteville TN where I grew up called Ken's Fast food that has pretty amazing burgers.

I think the reason I love In and Out so much is because I was 25 years old before I ever had my first one and now it has been 10 years since I have had another. I would take I&O over Whataburger though any day of the week.

Best burger I ever bought was at University Chevron in Columbus Mississippi.  I used to love it when my sales route took me through there. The owner was an immigrant who was more patriotic than mostly natural born Americans.  I was always so impressed by how greatful he was to have become a citizen of this country and to have his opportunity at a successful life for him and his family.

It is amazing to me how many immigrants I know who seem to love this country more than many native born Americans, especially the ones from Socialist countries. Cubans, Venezuelans, Eastern block countries almost every one I have met from these countries loves the US but are worried that we are starting to go down the path of Socialism where the government tells you what to do.

Yes, we are headed towards a socialist society very quickly.

I would not have expected you to be the one to go there in a recruiting thread. Poor form.

I apologize I am usually the one who tries to get a thread back on the player when it has been derailed but this time I jumped in. This should have been in a different forum area.

If I bring up ostrich burgers will @bigbirdtry to get me banned? They are actually delicious

Yes, I had an ostrich filet in Denver, and it was very very good.

Not at all!

Ostriches definitely have an over inflated sense of their worth and contributions.

The best burger I’ve ever had was at Toddc’s place. Ground sirloin and chuck fried in a black cast iron skillet in bacon fat! Yum yum 😋

One of the great revelations of my life was learning that cast iron or a flat top is way better for most high heat cooks than most open flame grills. Heck yes to a smash burger.

Any Blackstone enthusiasts here? It's on my list.

Blackstones are okay when it comes to burgers.  They don't get hot enough to develop the crust like a good ol cast iron does.  Don't get me wrong, I like my blackstone for a lot of different recipes but for the best burger you can't be a cast iron.

I even start my filets on the stovetop and then broiler on high for 5 minutes with a dollop of butter  in a cast iron and they are perfect every time.

@fredst, @Tiger Refuge and I were just talking about this yesterday. I'm also a pan guy for steaks. That even sear/crust is so good and it's just such an easy way to do the job. Sometimes I have to open the windows to un-smoke the kitchen, though.

And lest anyone be tempted to complain about all this beef (and ostrich!) talk in a recruits thread, kid is going to gain 15 lbs of protein-fed muscle just by reading the last 3 pages. More like POW! Gordon.

Try the reverse sear method. Cook in the oven on a rack at low temp, then get a cast iron almost white hot and sear it.  There are recipes you can look up but it is fantastic.  Hard for me to eat a steak any other way.

I smoke my thick pork chops and reverse sear them and it just works man.
