All Jordan-Hare Visitor Team

Another memory lane thread (it's February). I got interested in the idea of Jordan Hare Stadium's historical significance, not just to the SEC, but all of college football. I started thinking of the greats that had suited up there. We already know the Auburn greats. But I've put together a list of the best Non-AU to play in the confines of JHS.

I mostly only know offensive guys.

QB - Brett Favre - Southern Miss

QB - Matt Leinart - USC

QB - Johnny Manziel - Texas A&M

QB - Tim Tebow - Florida

QB - Boomer Esiason - Maryland

QB - Joe Burrow - LSU

QB - DeShaun Watson - Clemson

RB - Reggie Bush - USC

RB - Herschel Walker - Georgia

RB - Eric Metcalf - Texas

RB - Derrick Henry - Alabama

RB - Darren McFadden - Arkansas

RB - Emmitt Smith - Florida

WR - Calvin Johnson - GT

WR - Terrell Owens - Chattanooga

WR - Fred Biletnikoff- Florida State

WR - Julio Jones - Alabama

WR - DeAndre Hopkins - Clemson

WR - AJ Green - Georgia

WR - Jordy Nelson - Kansas State

C - Dave Rimington - Nebraska

DE - Reggie White - Tennessee

MLB - Patrick Willis - Ole Miss

CB - Deion Sanders - Florida State

CB - Champ Bailey - Georgia

CB - Patrick Peterson - LSU

S - Eric Berry - Tennessee

P - Ray Guy - Southern Miss

Eli Manning comes to mind for me. He's won't be remembered like Peyton but he won 2 Super Bowls against the GOAT.

In all seriousness I would add Mike Rozier at RB from Nebraska.

Also, Wilber Marshall from Florida was a standout College and NFL linebacker.

One of my worst feelings ever at JHS - Brett Favre throwing a pass to beat us 1992.

CB - Antonio Langham, Bammer. The Nix to Sanders TD was thrown away from him by design. Heard one of the coaches say that initially Langham moved as though he would a part of the coverage then shifted away from the play.

All time favorite visiting coach has to go to Curley Hallman.

Players that stuck in my memory:

Nebraska center Dave Dave Rimington. He looked as big as any two AU players, and he played like it.

Georgia DB Jake Scott. He made their defense look like they had 13 players out there.

The aforementioned Brett Farve. He threw the most perfect spiral I've ever seen.

Think I'll stop at three, these guys call some bitter losses to mind.

Elis who I thought of also. Think it was Obamanu(spelling?) dropped a pass that drilled him in the chest for a td

The best qb I saw play in jordan hare was boomer or at least that’s my opinion. He was tall and athletic for a college qbs and had a cannon.

I think it would be more appropriate if it’s the greatest non-conference players to ever play in JHS. The SEC guys played in all the other SEC stadiums too. Nothing special about that.

As mentioned above the list really gets nutty when it's the All-Time Players who Faced Auburn team.

You add:

QB Lamar Jackson

QB Peyton Manning

QB Baker Mayfield

QB Jameis Winston

QB Carson Palmer

QB Danny Wuerrfel

QB Bernie Kosar

QB Vinnie Testaverde

QB Doug Flutie

RB Melvin Gordon

DT Ndamukong Suh

DE Julius Peppers

DE Dwight Freeney

LB Junior Seau

S Troy Polamalu

K Robbie Gould

Dante Culpepper of UCF is worth mentioning. Nearly beat Auburn in the late 90s.

Does anyone remember Karsten Bailey having to score, with under a minute left, on a crazy out route where he broke a few tackles to beat them 10-6 on Homecoming in 1998?  Gabe Gross threw the pass.

I had thought about Dwight Freeney the other day.  They played against him at the dome when they got spanked up there in 2001.
