Softball vs Alabama Game 1

Alabama got 2 runners in scoring position and Baily Hemphill hit a shot to left to score both in the top of the 1st.  We loaded the bases with 1 out and couldn't get the clutch hit in the bottom half.  2-0 Bammer after 1.

Dowling hits a towering shot to left.  3-0 Bammer.  They get a hit to the outfield and a bunt single that should have been a sacrifice.  Our defense hasn't been sharp tonight. Bammer now has 2 bunt singles.  Tyler King catches a fly ball shy of the warning track in left for Out 1.  Dowell makes an outstanding scoop and throw to get the batter.  2 outs runners at 2nd and 3rd.  Schmidt makes the catch at the wall.  Tigers up to bat.

Rivera leads off the 2nd and grounds out to 2nd.  Perry strikes out.  Tyler King grounds out to 2nd.  After 2, 3-0 Bammer.  Starting the 3rd inning and Penta has already thrown 57 pitches.

We really need somethimg good to happen. They are sitting on Penta's fastball..... Need to hit too!!

Penta strikes out the first batter and the second batter grounds to Penta for Out 2.  A high fly ball caught by Dowell for out 3.  An easier inning for Penta.  She has now thrown 70 pitches after 3 innings.  Top of the order up for the Tigers.

Dowell up and she slaps a single to left.  McCondichie comes in to pinch run.  Cox singles up the middle.  Packer singles sharply to right.  Here we go again.  Bases loaded and nobody out.  We have hit Kilfoyle, just not the clutch hit we need to score runs.  Bammer's outfielders are getting the ball in quickly.  Godwin hits an infield fly for Out 1.  Garcia up for the second time with the bases juiced and she strikes out for the second time.  2 outs.  Schmidt grounds out to end the inning.

Tyler King makes the catch in left for Out 1.  I believe that's 3 put outs for her.  Ball hot off Penta's glove to Dowell and she throws out the runner at first.  The old 1-6-3 put out.  Brown hits a chopper to Garcia and having to wait for it to come down costs us a base hit.  Chopper to Dowell for Out 3.  Good to see the Helmet Guy in the park.

Rivera lines out to 3rd.  Bryant pinch hitting for Perry and strikes out.  King hits a slow roller to first and beats it out for a single.  King tries to steal 2nd and is easily thrown out.  After 4 innings Bammer up 3-0.

They are killing us with the bunt.  I can't stand Murphy, but he knows how to coach.  Hemphill hits a towering shot to left.  5-0.  If it's up to me, she gets a free pass every time she comes up.  Lexie in to pitch.

Nice play by Cox on a tricky hop to get Out 1.  Another ground ball to Cox for Out 2.  4 pitch 2 out walk and a seeing eye single puts runners at first and second.  A strike out ends the inning.

I don't think Penta threw an off speed pitch at all, and her fastball was coming in straight and at the belt. That is never good

Dowell strikes out to lead off the bottom of the fifth.  Cox strikes out for Out 2.  Both hitters had been 2 for 2.  Like good pitchers do when you don't take advantage of early game chances, Kilfoyle is getting stronger.  5-0 Bammer after 5.

This is UAT’s #2 pitcher.  Her stats are actually better than #1 but she is still #2.

This umpires zone is all over the place. Kilfoyl does a good job of making balls look like strikes though. She reminds me of a better version of Makayla.

Penta got roughed up a little bit, but she will continue to get better. Alabama is a very good hitting team and having Sides back makes them better.

We have to do a better job of converting with runners in scoring position though.

The ball that Hemphill hit in the first was a changeup.  She also threw a couple of others.

We finally get Elissa Brown out.  1 out.  Nice play by Dowell for out 2.  Garcia makes a nice play on a ground ball for out 3.

Yes, the home plate ump is very erratic with his strike zone.

The last 7 times that AU has loaded the bases, EXACTLY ONE RUN has scored...No excuses, thats on Mickey Dean and poor situation management.......
