I agree, but isn't Zep also a lock down defender? I mean, doesn't that mitigate the loss somewhat?

But I suppose I do see where that could be a selling point to a guard in the portal who has good defensive ability but maybe is more average offensively: have your own role carved out for you on an exceptionally talented team that looks to be going places.

I think you can stop losing sleep over that. Martin was our 5th string RB when he left. After failing to rise above 5th string at Miami,  Martin left there and transferred to Memphis. At Memphis he sat out a year and then in 2020 worked his way all the way up to becoming their 3rd team RB. He did score one touchdown.

I don't think he'd have been a factor at AU.

He’s not on this team if Scoot committed like expected once upon a time, but I think the reason Bruce singled him out as a backup plan (other than him willing to be that) was due to him showing that “spurtability” - ability to take over a game vs SEC guys, esp Auburn.

it really does sound like his superstar moments vs us had a lot to do with him being prioritized a bit higher than other options

Not sure anyone at his height can be viewed as a lockdown defender. The way seals does it though apparently has more affect on team defense. Also the toughness and tenacity Sills had on D was something this team sorely lacked last year.

I suppose it's never occurred to you that they didn't want him to have an extra year? He wasn't cutting it at AU, he couldn't cut it at Miami and he's 3rd string at Memphis. Plus, he had family baggage. The staff probably figured "losing count" was a good way to get him to move on.

Good luck to him at Arkansas State. I love defensive players and it sucks we are losing him. Also, this is why I laugh at student athlete. Something like that should've been the first thing looked at when we started seeking him out. Unfortunate for both parties but mainly him.

Hard to believe a major college school like hours, doesn't have a similar type degree like Recreation and Sports Management, or have courses that would be similar to Desi's RSM courses he had at Arkansas. Recreation and Sports Managment sounds pretty generic to me. I have been through this with my son at Auburn, when he transferred, but we worked it out and he did lose a little credit, but not much.

Just hard to believe Arkansas and Auburn are that different in that area of this type of major.

It appears Auburn offers Sport Management as a minor to support a Master's degree program.
