We... did not do that. But we also didn't do the one thing we couldn't. Hooray.

Can't wait to see what these boys can do on the big stage.

Actually we did counter but not nearly enough.  I was really impressed with Robinson getting counters started on the intercept deep at the box.

True. That Robinson did show a much needed and long missing will and way to flip the field in a hurry.

And I'm an Atlanta guy so I was super psyched to see the other Robinson get on a couple of those set pieces. Shocking quality on that volley even if he put it right on the keepers face, lol. Best 1v1 defender this country can offer but he is not known for his touch on the ball.

Boy, Canada sure proved that second sentence accurate, and they must be pretty pissed about it. But in a polite way.

Hoping against hope that we draw Qatar from the first pot and not Canada from the fourth.

We can't draw Canada.  Can't have two teams from the same federation except for UEFA.

Found a WC draw simulator.  Fun to play with.

Best group so far that I've seen drawn is Spain, USA, Serbia, Saudi Arabia in Group B (ranked 5th toughest draw out of 8).

Worst so far is Argentina, USA, Morocco, Wales in Group D (ranked toughest of 8).

New favorite (any with Qatar gets a lucky draw).

Qatar, USA, Morocco, Ukraine (avg 1547 ranking).  The worst in the previous post was ranked with 1637 avg for comparison.

As they were saying on reddit, "task failed successfully!" or "USA WINS 0-2!"

Then the winner of the UEFA playoff. Scotland, Wales, or Ukraine.

Again not great not terrible.

Best 11 right now imo

Puli - Weah - Gio

McKennie - Adams - LDT OR Musah

Jedi - M-Rob - Zimmerman - Dest

Is steffen better than our other keeper we had in Gold Cup, Turner?  When is his return?

Just from a matchup perspective, how are these teams compared to us?  Heard we'd hope not to see Wales, and Iran has played people tough despite results.

Turner grades out much better in match play.

I thought so.  I know he was fantastic in the early tourneys.  Was hoping he would be back for WC

Its a tough group, but not impossible.  Scotland getting out of the playoff would probably be best case for us, but I think Wales will qualify.

I see a path to 5-6 points though which should get us through.  If we can somehow win the group, we have a real shot at making the quater-finals.

Can I just say it's glorioua to see how active a US soccer thread is on this predominantly college sports site? I used to post here and crickets would chirp for about a year before someone else piped up. (I know, don't read anything into that Canuck).🤣

Thanks, y'all!

Got tickets for US/Grenada here in Austin in June.  Nations League game.  Apparently our last game on home soil before the World Cup.

Looks like the September international window will be games in Europe.

Miles Robinson suffered an Achilles injury.  Extent unknown at this time but fear is it could be a serious one.  That totally sucks.  He was one that stood out to me on that back line recently.

Solid win by US in their friendly with Morocco.  This play by Puli though

rocket shot by Weah

Puli gave his buddy the spot kick after he wins the penalty.
