This is a great accomplishment by the young lady. Future looking good for Auburn gymnastics

ST. LOUIS – Auburn gymnastics incoming freshman Sunisa Lee punched her ticket to the Tokyo Summer Olympics as she finished second in the all-around at the USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials Sunday night in St. Louis.

"It has been an amazing experience to watch Suni achieve what she has been working towards for years," Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said. "This was such a great weekend. The Auburn program is so excited for her, and we can't wait to cheer her on in July. War Eagle!"

"This means so much to me and I've worked so hard for the past couple years," Lee said. "To just go out on the floor and do everything I was supposed to do feels amazing."

Lee, of St. Paul, Minn., finished first on bars and beam at the end of the two-day trials to go with her second-place finish in the all-around. Lee also topped Simone Biles on day two in the all-around, marking the first time since 2013 that Biles has been beaten in the category.

Lee entered the Olympic Trials as the U.S. champion on bars and runner up in the all-around and on beam. She will head to the international meet as a world champion, securing team gold at the 2019 World Championships. Lee also won silver on floor and bronze on bars at the world meet.

Women's gymnastics kicks off on July 25 at the Tokyo Olympic Games with the first round of team competition.

Another thing I need to mention if this young lady does well at the Olympics say like a silver or especially a gold metal the protential earnings in NIL could be huge $$$ while at Auburn

Team gold is a lock (99% prob., barring injuries, covid)

Potentially 1-2 gold medals (team+bars), maybe even 2x gold (team, bars) + 1 silver (beam). Suni is the highest profile signee in Auburn athletic history.

Suni Lee is also very close friends with Konnor McClain (5-star Elite who will compete for Paris 2024). Maybe she will recruit Konnor to Auburn (I think LSU is the other potential school). Also, Lyden Saltness (2023 4-star Auburn commit is currently training with Suni in Minnesota).

Suni Lee is currently featured in Peacock's docu-series "Golden" (LeBron James production):

A six-part docuseries chronicling the journey of five elite American gymnasts as they head to the Olympic Trials, offering a glimpse of the rarely seen moments.

Not sure if a thread has been started about how all of Auburn’s Olympians (past, present, and future) are performing. Former AU tennis player Tim Puetz and his German doubles partner won their opening match against a pair from Argentina with relative ease 6-2, 6-1.

Let’s start a new thread then.

THE SUNI PREVIEW: THE AUBURN FAN'S GUIDE TO SUNISA LEE'S RUN AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS

Consider this, Auburn fans: Biles is 24 and isn’t a college recruit. Lee could prove at the Olympics that she’s the best college prospect in the world.

Sunisa Lee stands a step away from the mountaintop at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, a few flips from a dream come true. Half a world away on the Plains, her new family of Auburn men and women are cheering her on. She’s becoming a star in Tokyo and her next stop is Auburn, inspiring excitement this summer from fans in orange and blue — including some familiar with the sport, and some who are all new.

Here is a guide to Lee’s journey at the Tokyo Olympics, written for fans in football country.

Who is Sunisa Lee?

Why did Sunisa Lee choose Auburn?

Will Sunisa Lee win gold at the Olympics?

Why doesn't Sunisa Lee go pro instead of coming to Auburn?

Will Sunisa Lee go back to the Olympics in 2024?

Suni qualified for the all around.

As third overall, no less.  She's got a good shot at bringing home some hardware.

Fellow American (and favorite to win) Simone Biles finished first.  A couple other Americans finished #9 and 11, but get left out due to a two-per-country limit.

Suni is getting raves over her UE bar routine. Really exciting she is going to Auburn.

Suni is getting her chance. Simone had to withdraw from team finals.  Suni followed it up with 2 sensational routines.  Including 15.4 on uneven.  That's the best score of the tourney so far.

Americans got Silver but Suni did her part.  She's a threat in all around.

Sounds like Simone basically had a panic attack and couldn't continue, which really hurt on floor routines as she had the difficult ones.  Her vault was also low for her.

Yes, Suni did a great job! The team covered Simone during the meet.

I like her chances in UE bars individual and the all around.

Simone is out again for the all around.  Suni is the leading American now.  I hope she kills it and takes home a medal.

No pressure on her now, huh? That's tough to have to assume in short fashion. Good luck to her for sure....
