Let's refocus this thread about. This is only for 2023 recruiting discussion and the players involved with that process. Please take the other stuff to another thread.

We are getting some more positive-ish news on the trail right now but we really need some results.

Feel a lot better about the EDGE situation. Quality backup options we're in on. Same for OL. A couple of these guys, Shivers and Wilson, intrigue the hell outta me. Raw, but just as much potential if not more than Mcelderry and Ramil imo. They just aren't as physically big yet.

Need to see QB recruiting jump start. Really want us to push for Smolik. Been dead quiet on that front.

Agreed and I'll be curious to hear what people think post-SEC media days. Eventually the boosters need to move on because none of their supposed "target" guys would have success if we don't recruit decent players this year and next. We need the new foundation for the O-line ASAP.

What does this even mean?

Recruits can see that the players are buying in to what the coaches are asking.

Another positive development. JLee and JHead over at On3 have been saying Connor Lew to UGA for a while now. JLee just updated that he's taking that back. Ruzic and Joe Bernardi have taken over his recruitment from Will Friend and are putting up a serious fight.

JLee says we may even be trending. Hard to believe we will land a blue chip mauler of a center over the in-state dawgs, but would be a huge, huge get if we do.

So...the consensus has been that if we "prove ourselves" this year, recruits will start jumping on. What record would that threshold be, exactly?

Probably close to 9+ wins

Problem is, by the time we prove ourselves, there isn't going to be anything left.  As of a few weeks ago, 65% of 4/5* kids had already committed.  That numbers is only going to get much higher before the season & especially by the mid point of the season.

It was all a lie and distraction from the poor recruiting.  We need better recruiters and more NIL

Nine wins would create a splash. However, as noted above, the vast majority of top prospects will be locked in by the time the season ends.

We'll know a lot more about the program's direction after the Penn State game.  IMO it's a make or break game for Harsin & Co.

I agree winning that game would be huge. It would give team momentum and confidence.

Agreed. We aren't getting 10 flips. Nobody is. The guys I see the "wait for wins" approach possibly working for is Keldrick Faulk (flip), Ashley Williams (flip), Bo Hughley (flip), and then maybe in a crazy world Qua Russaw. That's very, very unlikely obviously. The other 3 I do think are legit flip targets though.

I see the wait for us to win approach more so working with portal guys though. See Ole Miss portal efforts last year for reference. Was thinking today that even if we pull Lew and Hughley, we'll still need multiple portal OL this cycle. No kicking the can down the road anymore. Getting wins would likely help with that effort imo

A very solid 4* at a position of need if we get him and it would then give us 5 players all 4*.  Hope he commits soon and that he comes to Auburn. Would love to see some commits come during or just after Big Cat. We need both the players and the recruiting momentum.

The good news about it is that apparently he has the body type to play EDGE or the 5 tech. He's versatile. Keith says he can either slim down and stay EDGE, or bulk up and move inside.

It's no secret Brumbaugh is struggling badly right now. This gives us a chance to help him out if we want, if we land another 3 true EDGES in addition to Wilky. Same thing over on the OL with Joiner. If we land Lew and some bigger guards/swings like Lang, Wedin, Wilson, or Chester, it could give us the option to consider Bradyn Joiner as the classes NT. This would also help Brumbaugh fill his numbers. Basically, the moral of the story is that we're going after versatile players, which is good imo.

Hunter Osborne from Hewitt-Trussville ditches AU in his final 4.  Any word on why?  Is he just a bammer, we prefer others....just curious why all the in-state Big boy D players are going elsewhere

guess we do miss Eason?

Well it's been said that ole Eason has been negative recruiting us hard, and it worked on this guy especially. Who knows, but yes, we miss him. Big downgrade from him to Brumbaugh I'm afraid
