Bobo out as OC

I understand that OCs can have the power to hire their own specialist but why would Caddy go out with Bobo? I’d be shocked by this.

I don't think it's as much that Cadillac would leave with Bobo as it is offensive coordinators usually like to bring in their own position coaches. So the new hire may want to bring in whoever his guy is at RB coach.

Wasn't our WR coach Harsin's OC at Boise? That should work well, and finding a solid WR coach will be a lot easier than finding a quality OC.

I believe this is how it will go down. JMO

Caddy is the best recruiter on the staff. They will not let him go.

We already have his Old OC  from Bosie as an offensive analyst / WR coach on the staff..  i dont know why you guys think he is going to hire another OC when he has one he already trusts.

Yup I called that 2 months ago. Kiesau will be named the new OC soon.

For the sake of discussion if he hired Dan Mullen would the forum explode. Highly unlikely though.

If so, the players better be ready to pucker up when they get off the bus...

Probably. Makes sense. And this place will implode when he does it.

Harsin has no clout in the coaching ranks. Every other SEC staff minus Vandy that needs assistant coaches will get their picks of the litter. Harsin will always get the scraps, which will always be his former and/or current assistants.

Thank goodness.  If he had fired him last week, we win Saturday.  Of course this could mean that Harsin is about to make Auburn more good ol' boy than Gus.   Which isn't going to help recruiting.

I 'm guessing the majority on this forum are happy with this move. I'm not happy, but I support the decision because I support CBH. My biggest question for insiders is if Auburn had miraculously pulled out a win on Saturday, would this firing have happened. I firmly believe that we would have won had Coach Harsin called for the two point try after the first overtime touchdown. Of course we'll never know that and the CMB bashing posts would have continued after a few days of celebration.

Our coaches never have clout, yet this is a top 15 program in the country. The name Auburn has clout. The only non-big six team we're giving anything up to right now is maybe Ole Miss because of Kiffin.

We've tried to

Strange that we can't get a former football player to come back and coach.  Almost as if he knows how the sausage is being made and it makes him sick.

He wouldn’t come back here when Gus was running the show.  Gus burned that bridge.

Why the heck can’t we get good coaches like seemingly almost everyone else in the league can?

Mostly because he has a good set up at uga. He's been close to coming back we just couldn't make it work. I do know that Mario C. was going to put a full court press to get him back to AU

That usually only happens when the Coordinator is using their system, not gonna be the case here.

i agree. everyone who is interesting in college football just watch that iron bowl and there were a ton of recruits there. seems like that would do more to "sell" for these new coaches than anything else. they have to learn sometime.

What will it say if they strike out on most, if not all, of those uncommitted prospects that were in Auburn for the IB?

The only coach on this staff with clout is Caddy. Harsin was at least smart enough to understand that by retaining him.

We may have been a top 15 program, but with the way our 2nd Halves have collapsed, our 4-game losing streak and the way recruiting has gone, Harsin is quickly putting this program in reverse.

He may be a helluva man, great coach to play for, A-personality and all the other feel-goods that the pumpers have made note of, but he doesn’t have the name or the clout to suddenly change that direction. Other than the DC, he can’t lure great assistants. In that regard alone, he is exactly like his predecessor, perhaps worse.

Meanwhile, LSU and FL make massive upgrades. We are getting left in the dirt in all phases, most importantly recruiting, which is the only thing that matters. Recruiting isn’t just Jimmy’s and Joe’s. Recruiting lures great assistants. With everyone around us getting stronger, which will take even more precious recruits from us, we are about to go through the roughest multi-year stretch since Barfield. Flame away.

He needs to 4 years that is the amount of time to get Gus off the payroll.  We can't have a domino effect of coach's being fired but still on the payroll.  With 2 coach's gus and Harsin on the payroll what kind of a coach do you think we could afford another Mountain West or Sunbelt coach.  Oh well another domino has fallen.  Firing Harsin while Gus is still on the payroll JABA.

Recruiting and performance have to improve for him to get 4 years. He won't get 3 if there isn't some sign of positive  momentum.

Damn, Harsin sucks. What Auburn worked to build for ~130 years he torpedoed in 11 months. That has *got* to be some kind of record
