Coming off 4 straight losses and end up in freaking Birmingham is depressing and sad.

Players work their arses off since spring, get through the grueling regular season only get to travel for a bowl game up the flipping road.  Depressing.

Don’t go. Let fans that want to see and support their team go.
And don’t watch either.

Having extra practice and competing against a team that played in their conference championship is a great opportunity for a rebuilding program.

It’s not where we would like to be as a program but it will be extra practice and more chances to improve...

Thats all I got 🤷

Many teams are done until Spring. Big advantage in my book.

Wow !11:00 Tuesday after Christmas.seems to be a formula for a sparse crowd.Hopefully AU will show up and play better than most of Gus’s bowl teams.

Just curious what there is to do in Birmingham for the players? Im sure Disney and Universal are overrated. Nothing to see in South Beach. Likely a museum or two they can go to when not at Motel 6. Last year I put alot of blame on the players and Gus. This year I blame the coaches. Specifically Bozo Bobo the Magnificent.

Rebuilding? It doesn't feel like we are building. I see where Arkansas just landed a wr from Oklahoma in the portal #1 receiver in the 2019 class. We could have used that. A win would go a long ways I suppose and I do agree Houston is a better option than the SMU or Texas tech alternatives challenging though it shall be.

I actually remember watching Auburn's bowl game against Houston on TV in '69. We got killed. My third oldest football memory. Happier memory was another bowl game in Birmingham: All American Bowl ('86?) FSU vs Indiana- although every fan in stadium wanted to kill FSUs bloody annoying band.

Honestly who cares, would you rather of gone to Shreveport?  When you win six games it’s not exactly like you have a lot of alternatives.  The most important part is the 15 extra days of practice.  Let’s keep supporting this team and if it’s a bonus for you that it’s close by you should go out and cheer the guys.

Absolutely.  They have craps tables.

The best motorcycle museum in America.  We can let them ride Porsches around the best road track in America.    Young men love fast cars.   Civil Rights Museum.   They can learn about real history.

Waiting for the Gus haters to bring him into this. It didn’t take as long as I thought.

Yes, reality to some is negative. Can we support our team and be disappointed they have to play in the Birmingham bowl? Is it better than going 5-7 (Georgia State comes to mind) and not going to a Bowl Game at all? Of course it is but still disappointing because we love our Alma Mater and expect better!

Stacked holiday traffic and an unbearably boring 2+ hour drive to and fro?

BYU getting sent to Shreveport amuses me a bit...I don't imagine the LDS folks are going to be rushing out to the casinos.

As for us, eh, I guess like pretty much every minor bowl game out there, getting motivated to play will be a large part of the challenge. UH might be disappointed in their destination, too. Hopefully we come out prepared and ready to play.

BYU played in Vegas a few yeara ago for a bowl.  That made me cackle.

I think it’s no chance in hell they break tendency and play Dee, but I will say that’s probably the only thing that can make this positively memorable for me. And *I* do not matter, but I do believe that from the jump, this bowl game was about development and giving the fans something to latch onto long term.

And even though that ideology has somewhat shifted since, Harsin put a lot of stock into both being the anti Gus and being someone who the fans could lay faith in on a relatable level preseason. Many small things the program did spoke to that pursuit. Gus almost never gave us youth in those clearly mirthless performances the team put on. This could give Harsin another feather for his cap

(but I’ll take Capers if we’re not gonna get Dee!!!!)

In modern day college football, pretty much every team not in the playoff and New Years Six bowls are disappointed in their destination.
