I agree about getting in early on these kids as to whether he will end up being massive you never know my youngest son was 6' tall and about 135 pounds at 14 he is 24 now and is still 6' tall but did put on mass as he is around 215. I also know kids who were small at that age then grew multiple years thereafter and ended up being very large individuals. You are right in that most kids that big at a young age getter bigger.
