Miami up next

Miami normally runs a “5 out” offense. Somewhat unusual in d1.  Pure small ball. See it more in the nba.  4 guards and a power forward all on perimeter. There’s YouTube videos on it.

Game plan needs to be similar to Jax St. They will hit some shots but lock up the perimeter D and force them to drive inside.

Would be a great game to have Jaylin, just for defense more than anything

They’re going to have to ensure Kessler’s impact is felt offensively and try to get UM out of that style of play

Don’t love the matchup given our recent guard play.  But we should be able to overwhelm with height and depth. Zep, KD, and Wendell HAVE to be focused more on assists and less on letting it fly from the logo.

The 3 guard set we ran late in the year, might just be the key to reaching the Sweet 16.

Only thing about that is that Flanigan is arguably your best defender (Zep is definitely a better on ball guard defender) in a situation like this. And in a worst case scenario where their center is able to light it up and Kessler can’t stay in the paint, you won’t have that figure to scare guys away penetrating

Long winded way of saying I hope we don’t NEED to get in a situation where Flanigan isn’t on the court. If you can have him and Zep on the court together as much as possible, that’s the best case scenario defensively imo

From what I'm gathering, they got the guards and we got the big men. Sounds like if our guards do like last game and get it to the big guys, make extra passes, and play within the system we have a great shot. If not, and they fall into shot hunting and hero ball, we'll lose

Sums it up well on offense. This will be a defensive game. They are basically A&M on defense...they force steals and limit lane driving. Like USC, they will force us to shoot 3's. We need Green to drive the lane and find Kessler & others. We know KD will drive and won't pass it, so we have to hope the refs will call fouls on his wild heaves.

On defense, have to force Moore & Wong to give it up more often than not. Make the others beat you. Play disciplined defense, limit the fouls and keep them off the FT line where they like it.
