Softball vs Arkansas 2022

Recommended Posts

Playing at Arkansas Fri, Sat and Sun @ 6PM, 1PM and 1 PM.  SEC+, SEC, SEC+ for TV.  The Razorbacks coached by Courtney Deifel since 2016. Last year conference record was 19 - 5 This years overall record 25 - 7.  Conference record 6 - 3.  they won 2/3 vs @ Tennessee, 2/3 vs LSU and 2/3 @ Ole Miss.  In conference stats they are 5th in fielding vs last for AU, Pithching 4th vs 3rd AU, Batting 2nd vs AU 10th.  Although AU has hit a lot of home runs in conference play we have been out hit by a margin of 107 - 83 which was exemplified in the series with Florida.  Arkansas has out hit opponents in conference play 72 - 64.  Their primary pitchers are Mary Haff with 2.97 ERA (30.2 innings) and Chenise Deice with 3.05 ERA (18.1 innings) Hopefully AU can improve in the hitting and fielding areas to increase their win chances.

Think you nailed it.  Arkansas isn't that different from us regarding pitching.  If we can get more hits and with ROB, we have a decent chance at the series.

Agree.  I've been saying that HRs are nice but we haven't been generating hits to move runners in SEC play.  Against the Gators I guess we didn't/couldn't  "see"  pitches well because they weren't close to 70 mph.  Hope we have worked on that.  Energy and focus!

Lowe on the mound and has another bad start. Gives up 4 runs in the first inning including 2 homeruns.

Garcia cuts the lead a bit with a two run homer home run but Geraghty gets called out at home for catcher interference. If anyone is watching the game please explain that to me since I'm not watching.

Still got some catching up to do.

Did Geraghty miss a base and the reason she was called out. That is all I can think that could have happened for her to be called out on a HR

Cox with a lead off double.

Moves to 3rd on a McCondichie ground out.

Packer grounds out.

Peralta with a 4 pitch walk. Need some clutch hitting from Blaine!

THERE'S SOME CLUTCH HITTING! BLAINE WITH A 3 RUN BOMB!!!

Edit: Ellis fouls out.

4-4 TIED GAME B3rd!

Garahty missed the plate……not only that, the person waiting to bat didn’t tell her to go back.  Pretty sad.

Stupidest effin rule in all of baseball and softball. I don't care if they never touch any base. If someone hits a homerun it shouldn't matter what bases they touch. SMH

Lowe gets the first out on a foul out before giving up a monster homerun. Gonna be a rough SEC stretch if Lowe can't get back to pitching well. Can't rely on just Penta to carry us every game.

Flyout but then Lowe gives up a double off the wall.

2 run homer. :( Lowe just doesn't have it and Dean does another bad job of taking pitchers out when they're getting clobbered.

Edit: Ground out down the line at first. Stayed fair and the batter never attempted to run. Easy 3rd out.

Lisenby (I'm assuming she'll hit for Geraghty), Garcia, Godwin coming up.

New pitcher for Arkansas.

Lisenby comes through with a lead off single! She continues to improve with getting on base. Love to see it.

4 pitch walk to Garcia. Offense has something going again. Need to take advantage of every opportunity to keep up with Arkansas.

Godwin chases a pitch for a strikeout. Gotta have a better at bat knowing the pitcher has been struggling to hit her spots.

Cox flies out to CF.

:( McCondichie with a ground ball to 3rd and Lisenby gets tagged out. Awful clutch hitting with 0 outs and 2 on.

Lisenby goes behind the plate and Godwin goes to DP. Schmidt goes to RF for Blaine.

Lowe gets 2 outs easily and then gives up a double. Just can't get out of the inning clean.

6 out of 7 runs scored have been with 2 outs. :(

Peralta pops up. Happy to only give up the 1 hit.

Packer, Peralta, Blaine coming up!

Packer strikes out looking on 3 pitches.

Peralta falls behind 0-2 before coming back and taking 4 straight balls for a walk.

Garcia keeps the bat on her shoulder falls behind 0-2 and then chases a pitch out of the strikezone for a K.

Ellis strikes out on 3 pitches. Can't have those 3 awful at bats.

Dismukes coming in for Lowe to try to keep this deficit only 3.

No 1-2-3 inning as Dismukes walks the lead off batter on 5 pitches. Single and runners at 1st and 2nd. Never thought pitching would be our biggest question mark this season ...

Dismukes fall behind 3-0 before getting a ground out to 3rd. Step on the bag for 1 and the throw not in time to get the double play. And there's a review on the field. Broadcast not sure why there's a review as she seems to think there's no need for it.

Edit: Yeah, call stands.

Lisenby, Garcia, Godwin coming up.

Really thought pitching was loaded. But again we are at 1 Ace and several that can shine or bust.

Injuries have definitely hurt us. I hope we have 2 pitchers committed since we're losing Yarbrough this season. Would be nice to have more than 3 pitchers to go to.

Lisenby grounds out to 1B.

Nice play by the 3B as Garcia grounds out. :(

Schmidt hitting for Godwin. She strikes out looking. Just nothing doing now on offense.

2 pitch ground out to Dismukes.

3 pitch strike out!

A single for the 9th hole hitter who had only 5 hits all season. Ground out to Peralta.

Cox, McCondichie, Packer. Need 3 runs to tie it. Need a couple of hits/walks at least to get to heart of our lineup.

McCondichie bunt single attempt and she's out at first. Review coming up, though. Will edit.

Edit: call confirmed. :( Really need some magic with 2 outs. If not I highly doubt we win the series with only getting Penta 1 time this series.

Never know what's gonna happen.  We lost 17 SEC games last year.  4 runs would have won eight of those.  Is Lowe still hurt, or have things gone psychological?

I personally think it's the latter and pulling her immediately every time is likely not helping. Idk. That's a tough call for a coach.  Leaving her in there could continue to spiral the confidence as well.
