Late Kick Blitz: Comparing Ryan Day's success to Kirby Smart's

Not much stock can be put into the results of spring game, but the public scrimmage still provides a fun opportunity for any player on the roster to step up and make his name known in front of thousands of fans.

For Auburn, this year's A-Day game will be the first with a full-capacity crowd allowed inside Jordan-Hare Stadium since 2019. Saturday's end-of-spring scrimmage (1 p.m. CST, SEC Network) marks the conclusion of 15 practice sessions and four weeks of work for the Tigers.

Auburn began handing out MVP awards at A-Day in 1987, and the awards are named for former running back Lionel James (1980-83), former defensive back Mark Dorminey (1981-82) and former punter Lewis Colbert (1982-85).

An 8 year streak (last 7 A Day games) will end today.  😢  A Carlson will not be ST MVP

That list brought back some wonderful, and also painful memories!    Such is the roller coaster life of AU family!🤪

1989 ST MVP has been my family DR for 20 years. Also, one of my best friends.

I certainly thought it was a thing before reading that list. Not as much now because there's a lot of good players on that list. Hard to consider walk-ons. Got a few like Myron Burton that were busts.
