#25 Baseball vs #12 Vanderbilt

Recommended Posts

Swilling now on the bump down 4-1, runners on first and second. Gets a 6-4-3 DP but called Safe at first. Another review. Tie does go to the runner, so Safe at first. 2 outs runners on first and third. Swilling a next pitch is a nice HBP to keep the lead off guy from getting a stolen base (he was running and is really fast). Batting around and the innings first batter is up, weak liner to LF corner to score 2, double. 6-1 Vandy. Dang, that guy is 6 foot 7 inches. Need an out, and frikin’ Keegan doubles again this inning, about a 1 short of being a HR. Clears the other two runners, Keegan on Second. 8-1 Vandy. Now another double to LF for Vandy to score the 6’7” dude.  And thank goodness a pop out to shallow RF to end this mess of an inning

Horrible Inning for the pitching staff. 9-1. Vandy. 9 runs in one half of an inning.

Brody singles up the middle. Lead off is on, let’s see what we got boys!  Then fly out to RF, pop out to SS, AND LaRue HOMERS to left center off the score board. 2 run homer makes it 9-3 Vandy. Now Farquhar singles to RF on a 1-1 pitch. Let’s see what Rambusch can do. Gets it to a full count and grounds out on pitch 9 I think, to end the inning. Vandy guy with almost 80 pitches on his left arm.

Going to the top of the 5th down 9-3. Tigers putting Chase Isbell on the bump.

Nice 3 pitch SO on a nasty slider to get the first out. Weak ground out to Foster at second to get out number 2.  Now the 9 hole gets his first hit of the series with a another double to right center. That’s the fifth double of the game. Dang, another double off the wall to score the runner from second. SIX doubles in the last two innings. And a fly out to Center to end the half. A lot of breaking ball strikes by Isbell, but those two doubles hurt.

10-3 Vandy with Kason, Sonny, and Brooks due up.

Kason strikes out swinging. And Sonny battles to get a walk with no help from the umpire (one questionable strike call).  And Nrooks Carlson singles to RF and runners on first and second with one out. Now Vandy going to the bullpen with 2 on up 10-3.

And Vandy runs in another stud pitcher who immediately gets a weak pop out to shallow center. And Foster grounds out 6-3 to end the inning. Two left stranded. Top of 6th coming up, Tigers down 10-3.

So now I am dragging. A few beers in. Single (left side), single (right side) and then ANOTHER double scores a run. 11-3 Vandy brings out Tim Hudson for a pitching change.

I actually thought Isbell’s stuff looked good, he would just leave one pitch out across the middle to each batter. Needs to work on those pitches where he needs a strike but has to locate it better.

I may slow down a bit if someone else wants to pick up.

Granzow in top 6, no outs. Gets a ground out to start, runners still on second and third.  Deep sac fly to LF scores a runner, other guy stays at second.  Free bag to the 8-hole guy, 9-hole grounds out to short to end the inning

Stat just put up. Vandy was 0-3 with RISP yesterday; and 8-14 today. HOLY CRAP!!!  13 chances is bad.

going to the bottom of 6, down 11-3, 7-8-9 up for Auburn.

Imma skip an inning and see if it changes our Mojo. Also chug a couple beers.

Ground ball to first and Sonny throws home for the tag out. Clearly out but they will review for the 5th time today. Still out but is was close. Nice quick tag by Dyal.

Another double, third for that guy Keegan. Nine total doubles on the day

Two and a half hours in and we are not to the stretch yet.

Hudson to the mound for a visit.

Sheehan in for the intentional walk. Why not give that to the guy you just took out. Then Sheehan gets the SO to end the inning.

1-2-3 due up down 13-3.

Vandy got their groove back today. I'm not surprised.

Same, just hate it was at Plainsmen Park!  But we can still take 2 out of three tomorrow.   That would be awesome.
